Sonnet 8 opens with "Music to hear, why hear'st thou music sadly?" then goes on to develop the theme of marriage bringing harmony to the Young Man's life, as music can.
Although some other sonnets mention music, this sonnet is one of only two in the whole series that are specifically centred on the theme of music.

A sonnet is a fourteen-line lyric poem in a single stanza, in which lines of iambic pentameter are linked by an elaborate rhyme scheme.
The structure of the English sonnet usually follows the Petrarchan, or explores variations on a theme in the first three quatrains and concludes with an epigrammatic.
In Shakespeare's Sonnet 29, the subject shifts towards a conclusion in the third quatrain and ends with the epigram.

 About the Sonnet
Sonnet: a lyric poem comprising 14 rhyming lines of equal length: iambic pentameters in English, alexandrines in French, hendecasyllables in Italian.
Among the common lyric forms are the sonnet, ode, elegy, haiku, and the more personal kinds of hymn.
Irregular variations on the sonnet form have included the 12-line sonnet sometimes used by Elizabethan poets, G. Hopkin's curtal sonnets of 10-1/2 lines, and the 16-line sonnets of George Meredith's sequence Modern Love (1862).

Shakespearean sonnet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Most Shakespearean sonnets have ten-syllable lines, but the rule is occasionally broken.
The Shakespearean sonnet, also called the Elizabethan or English sonnet, is a sonnet comprising three quatrains and a final couplet in iambic pentameter with the rhyme scheme abab cdcd efef gg.
Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey, created early examples in the 16th century, but the form is strongly associated with William Shakespeare because of his authorship of a famed collection published in 1609 (see Shakespeare's sonnets).

 The Sonnet
In addition, many Shakespearean sonnets seem to have a turn at line nine and another at the final couplet; and if a couplet closes an Italian sonnet, it is usually because the poet wanted the epigrammatic effec t more characterstic of the Shakespearean form.
Both forms break between lines eight and nine; the octave in the Italian frequently breaks into two quatrains, like the English; and its sestet frequently ends in a final couplet.
The form into which a poet puts his or her words is always something of which the reader ought to take conscious note.

 Basic Sonnet Forms
The basic meter of all sonnets in English is iambic pentameter (basic information on iambic pentameter), although there have been a few tetrameter and even hexameter sonnets, as well.
Still, the poem has the dialectical structure that a sonnet is supposed to have, so there is justification for in fact considering it one.
This change occurs at the beginning of L9 in the Italian sonnet and is called the volta, or "turn"; the turn is an essential element of the sonnet form, perhaps the essential element.
