Vangelis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
During the 1980s and 1990s, Vangelis and Jon Anderson released several albums together as Jon and Vangelis.
They had a hit single in Europe called "Rain and Tears", and are considered pivotal in the development of progressive rock and concept albums, especially because of their ground-breaking composition 666 (album).
In 1972 the group was disbanded, although Vangelis has since produced several albums and singles for Roussos as well as Roussos contributing vocals to the Blade Runner soundtrack.

 Vangelis - film composer
Vangelis was formerly a keyboard player in a band called "Aphrodite's Child" and perhaps this has influenced his use of electronic music in film scores.
In contrast to previous Vangelis albums, this one is entirely acoustic with a large orchestral and choir, and can be recommended as a powerful experience.
Within it Vangelis uses some synth tracks giving sounds similar to "Chariots of Fire", but many tracks major on acoustic instruments including ethnic ones such as the Duduk, and solo and ensemble voices are also in evidence.

This 1988 Vangelis CD is a bridge between the symphonic electronica sound that Vangelis made popular in the eighties and is current, more dense orchestral sound.
