All this may be have to wait since a spokesperson for the Tony Awards told Playbill On-Line that the idea of a replacement Tony category will not be part of the January 20th meeting.
Another idea is to open up the existing acting categories to cast replacements which is how the Olivier Awards in London work.

 Alum, His Play Up for Tony Award in June
MCC Theater, a traditionally off-Broadway leader has taken the play "Frozen" to the big stage, and it's a hit.
While the best play nomination for "Frozen" is not Cantler's first award nomination, it is his first Tony nomination and one he and his fellow producers would like to take home in June.
"I've worked on other plays that have received Tony nominations, but to be one of the ones who picked the performance, put it together and is getting that recognition is huge."
