 Bob Marley
The Wailers were advanced £4000 to make an album and, for the first time, a reggae band had access to the best recording facilities and were treated in much the same way as, say, their rock group contemporaries.
Bob Marley and The Wailers, quite simply, were the most important band on the road that year and the new album hit every chart in Europe.
The band's next album, Uprising, was released in May 1980.

Peter Tosh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Wailing Wailers had a huge ska hit with their first single, "Simmer Down," and recorded several more successful singles before Braithwaite, Kelso and Smith left the band in late 1965.
Veering away from the up-tempo dance of ska, the band slowed down to a rock-steady pace, and infused their lyrics with political and social messages.
In 1962 he was the driving force behind the trio's formation of The Wailing Wailers with Junior Braithwaite and back-up singers Beverly Kelso and Cherry Smith.

Science Fair Projects - Grunge music
Grunge bands avoided the complex, high budget presentations that bands from other rock genres such as heavy metal were known for; complex light arrays, pyrotechnics, and other technological visual effects unrelated to playing the music were not part of the concerts.
The sonic resemblance to such 1960s Northwest bands as the Wailers and, most particularly, the Sonics, is unmistakable.
Many grunge bands refused to cooperate with major record labels in making radio-friendly hooks, and the labels found new bands that were willing to do so, albeit with a watered-down sound that did not sit well with the genre's long-time fans.

The Wailers' transition from a studio, singles-based vocal group to an album-based touring band signaled an attempt to repackage reggae in a form tailored to the consumption patterns of the rock market.
In an attempt to anticipate trends in the rock market, Island had signed the Wailers in 1971, with a view to building a new and larger audience for reggae.
Although Jamaican groups had toured British night-clubs intermittently during the 1960s, the leap in the scale of exposure entailed by the Wailers' tour was a major new development in the marketing of reggae.

The Pilgrims are one of the most influential surf instrumental bands around and while much of their sound has a definite southern California influence, what sets them apart is the legacy of their Pacific Northwest rock 'n' roll ancestors: The Ventures, The Wailers, The Sonics and The Kingsmen.
The band's fifth LP/CD, simply titled "SATAN'S PILGRIMS", is their most adventurous yet and is full of different styles of "Pilgrim Rock" - classic surf, NW garage, and, of course, "Pilgrim Soul".
Satan's Pilgrims formed in 1992 during a series of house parties hosted by the members of the band, and were playing shows in their hometown of Portland, Oregon by 1993.
