 CNN - Sinatra: The Singer
In 1990, Sinatra celebrated his 75th birthday with a national tour, showing his fans that he was still king of music's hill, despite the fact his legendary voice had faded with age.
Critics raved that Sinatra was one of the first to care about the words he was singing, "reading" the lyrics with a clarity that had never been matched, wringing emotion from each line.
Sinatra cut his first record in 1939, and by the time he had finished he had made some 1,800 recordings, gathered nine Grammys, and was considered by many critics to be the preeminent singer of this century.

Blogcritics.org: Review: The Essential Frank Sinatra with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra
Sinatra has a lovely, lilting voice that is wonderfully augmented by the slow swing of the orchestra led by Dorsey's trombone and by Dorsey's other vocalists, Connie Haines and The Pied Pipers quartet.
In 1940, 25-year old Frank Sinatra was allowed out of his contract with the Harry James Orchestra and joined the more successful Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in January 1940 where he rose to prominence.
In January 1942 Sinatra began working on his solo career by recording four songs with Dorsey trumpeter and arranger, Axel Stordahl, one of which was Cole Porter's "Night and Day." It became a hit in March of that year, which resulted in Sinatra leaving Dorsey to strike out on his own the following September.

Amazon.com: Spotlight on Matt Monro: Music
I'd never heard of Matt Monro, so when I went looking for a particular song which I had thought was Frank Sinatra ("Real Live Girl"), Matt Monro's name kept turning up.
Those of us who have been Matt Monro fans for decades know his voice was a one-of-a-kind sound, recognizable after a couple of notes, and not to be compared with any other singer.
There is also a purity to his interpretations that has seldom been equaled; it is the song that is emphasized, not the singer, with few flourishes in the phrasing or deviation from what is on the sheet of music.

books - Page 1 at Think Bling
If you read reviews of her other CDs you'll see references to scat vocals...once again, a real matter of taste...and thankfully again, it's a style not used on "Dancing In The Dark." The CD was inspired by Frank Sinatra, but not the ring-a-ding-ding "Chairman Of The Board" Frank.
I bought this cd because Amazon kept recommending it to me, after my purchase of "Careless Love." I had not heard any of her versions of the songs and was a bit hesitant, because I loved the original Frank Sinatra versions, and my experience with jazz is that new versions are either teriffic or horrendous.
Sutton's voice is gentle but full and perfect for serving as a springboard for the emotions that accompany a new love, or to balm a spirit nursing the end of a love.
