Although this was not the only album the band recorded, this was The Scream's first and last album to be published by a record label.
The Scream then recruited former Dashboard Alice singer Billy Fogarty and recorded their sophomore album, Takin' It To The Next Level, but were dropped from the record label before the album could be released.
After releasing their 1991 debut Let It Scream on Hollywood Records, Corabi left the band to replace the exited Vince Neil in Mötley Crüe.

This is such a brilliantly realised and produced album, that is such a monumental step forward for the band, that those that listen to it for the first time, will (initially) have difficulty believing it to be the same band.
Primal Scream are a band that move musically in so many different guises & Sounds, that If you became a fan of theirs, through a particular album, there's nothing to say that the next album is going to resemble the previous album, in any...way, shape or form.
But this album deserves more attention than it has received, its one of the most original albums I've ever heard, true it may be a mish mash of familiar genres but the way its all put together and heard sounds brand new.

The British band Primal Scream's new album will be called "Exterminator," and the album is set for release in the first part of 2000, the New Musical Express reports.
Sony Music, which distributes Primal Scream's records in Canada, said Wednesday the new record won't have a firm domestic release date until early in the new year, but the album's first single, "Swastika Eyes" (already out in the U.K.), will be released in the coming weeks.
Gillespie, who was once the drummer for the recently disbanded Jesus And Mary Chain, told NME that the new album includes cameos from My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields and producers Brendan Lynch and David Holmes.

Exterminator was the last album released on Creation Records, which folded with the departure of Alan McGee in early 2000.
The band never broke stride in the studio, releasing a dub remix album (Echo Dek) and quickly recording a number of tracks that would eventually make it onto their second masterpiece, Exterminator.
Primal Scream began as a jangly, slightly psychedelic guitar group whose ultra-melodic "Velocity Girl" single and subsequent Sonic Flower Groove LP made slight waves on the British indie scene.

XTRMNTR was played up in interviews as Primal Scream’s first album done sober; the idea was that the band had finally gotten off drugs, realized how fucked the world had gotten while they were loved up and coked out, and written a pissed-off, bloodthirsty noise revolution to be the soundtrack to their political rage.
Their new album, Evil Heat, seems to retreat a bit from that imminent apocalypse–the Scream still expects Armageddon, but it seems that they’d rather not think about it at the moment.
