People's Weekly World Newspaper Online - The rise and fall of Jim Crow
By the next generation or so, Jim Crow had come to symbolize the racist, American apartheid form of segregation that denied Black Americans basic civil and human rights.
The story of these restrictions and the resultant fight to knock down what those laws represented is told impressively and in vivid detail in “The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow,” a four-part series that will run on Tuesday evenings on PBS, beginning in October.
Using photos, film footage and testimony from such prominent historians as Leon Litwack, Nell Painter, W.W. Law, along with the memories of eyewitnesses to this period from the 1860s to the 1950s, the series deftly covers the past, while it underscores a number of contemporary issues.

: The Crow - Wicked Prayer - DVD film
The original Crow film, forever remembered as the film that would have shot star Brandon Lee to superstardom if not for his tragic death during filming, was somber in it's tone but was an excellent action film and undoubtadly one of the best comic to film adaptations of all time.
The third film (Crow: Salvation) wasn't quite as bad, but marked the first film in the series to be released direct to video, and when watching you can see why.
The first thing you'll notice from the film is the absolutely horrible acting from everyone involved, whether it's Furlong slumming through his role to Boreanaz hamming it up in the film's climax as a wanna-be comedian Satan.

 The Crow
The ultimate villain of The Crow is Top Dollar, a character who is a constant, malevolent presence in the film.
T-bird, one of the villains, even says, ironically, early in the film: "Did you know that the lake here actually caught fire from all the crap floating around in it?" The image of water catching fire is perhaps a symbol for the ultimate transgression of a natural order in the noir world of The Crow.
A water/death association is suggested in the film, as water is frequently involved in the ritualistic killings, by Eric, of the gang of thugs.

 The Crow: Salvation (2000)
The first Crow, which is best known for being the film in which Brandon Lee was killed (duh), is a cult classic directed by Alex "Dark City" Proyas, and even today, it is regarded as probably the greatest of the gothic/action/modern noir films.
It's sequel, "The Crow: City of Angels," starred Vincent Perez, and while it featured some nice ideas and beautiful images, it was nothing more but a poor remake of the first film lacking all the heart of the original.
All in all, this is certainly much more acceptable that previous entries, and it succeeds where the others failed: Introducing new elements into a Crow franchise that, so far, has been nothing more but rip offs of the first film.

 Dragon*Con Biography: [Eric Mabius]
One of the things that drew Eric to the project -- aside from the opportunity to pay respect to the work of Brandon Lee-- was the challenge of personifying a new Crow that would appeal to long-term fans while not being a mere echo of Lee's iconagraphic performance.
Beside the youth of the protagonists (twenty-one for Eric's Alex Corvis; sixteen for Kirsten Dunst's Erin Randall, the actress's age during production), this Crow was born by the violence of a state-sanctioned execution, the scars of which comprise the basis for the mask-like "Crow look."
It didn't take long for the young actor to begin getting work in New York City, assaying roles in plays like Dinner at Eight, Scenes from an Execution, The Seagull and Zoo Story, as well as the independent films Welcome to the Dollhouse and I Shot Andy Warhol.
