 Chicago Style Guide
To the compiler's knowledge, there is not a specific discussion of Internet citations in the 14th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style.
If you have used other methods of citation (such as the MLA or the APA), you will notice that there are several differences between the Chicago style and these other methods.
The title of the recording should be italicized.

The Chicago Manual of Style is made up of two basic documentation systems.
Each example is preceded by the The Chicago Manual of Style reference number All references should be single-spaced with one blank line between entries.
The Chicago Manual of Style acknowledges the difficulty of setting universal rules for documenting many varieties of visual and audiovisual materials, and encourages the researcher to consider the nature of the materials, its use to the researcher listing it, and the facts necessary to retrieve it in creating citations for such materials.

Dr. Abel Scribe's Guide to Chicago-Turabian Style and Documentation
The style sheet covers basic features of using Chicago style for a paper requiring endnotes or footnotes (12 pages, PDF 190KB).
The Chicago Manual is geared to book publishing, while Turabian's Manual is focused on "term papers, theses, and dissertations." Turabian's Manual will work just fine for research papers (although it's badly in need of revision).
Students writing a dissertation or theses in history will likely need the Chicago manual as well ( CMS at Amazon.com).

The Nuts and Bolts of College Writing
Lovingly detailed treatment is available in The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th ed.
The traditional Chicago citation style consists of references in notes, either footnotes or endnotes (footnotes go at the bottom of the page on which the note occurs, and endnotes are gathered together at the end of the paper; which you use depends on what your teacher prefers).
In history and the humanities, Chicago style is a widely-used format, favored by those who prefer the traditional look of footnotes (or endnotes) rather than in-text citations.

USM Libraries - Turabian Style Guide
The Chicago Manual of Style (15th ed.) recommends omitting page numbers in newspaper citations due to the fact that there can be several editions of a daily paper where articles may appear in different places.
Chicago Manual states that "References to conversations (whether face-to-face or by telephone) or to letters, e-mail messages, and the like received by the author are usually run into the text or given in a note." (p.
Note: When citing electronic materials, Chicago Manual states that an access date need only be included "If the publisher or discipline requires it..." (p.

Citing Electronic Information in History Papers
As I remarked earlier, the next edition of Turabian will doubtless follow the recommendations of the 15th edition of The Chicago Manual of Style.
Until it appears, I will continue to advocate a style which I believe to be fully in the spirit of the Turabian tradition and somewhat better than what the Manual recommends.
The beginning point of my recommendations was Xia Li and Nancy B. Crane, Electronic Style: A Guide to Citing Electronic Information (Westport, CT: Meckler, 1993).

 Chicago Manual of Style
The Chicago Manual of Style allows for two different types of reference styles: the Author-Date System and the Documentary-Note (or Humanities) Style.
To see more examples of different types of materials and the way to cite them, please see either chapter 17 in the print version or consult the guide to Chicago Documentation at The Writing Center at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Traditionally, those in the humanities and social sciences use the Documentary-Note Style, and those in the sciences use the Author-Date System.

Although the 14th edition of The Chicago Manual of style (1993) and the 5th edition of Turabian's Manual for Writers (1987) also offer guidelines for parenthetical documentation and reference lists, the Chicago and Turabian styles are most commonly thought of as note systems.
The Chicago or Turabian style places bibliographic citations at the bottom of a page or at the end of a paper.
Ask your instructor whether you need to use notes or whether you can cite sources parenthetically in your text.
