captain beefheart - album review - re-release: safe as milk (remastered buddha - with 7 bonus tracks)
Both albums are fleshed out with bonus tracks recorded during the same October-November 1967 sessions that resulted in Mirror Man, which was originally intended to be a two-LP set called It Comes to You in a Plain Brown Wrapper.
those notes include new facts about beefheart's manipulations with the people involved, as well as about the recording sessions and the troubles with the unprofessional mixes (but, as the lines were written in january this year, without the 'santa claus' information from the 'grow fins' set at hand).
For one thing, the volume difference between "Abba Zaba" and the rest of the record has FINALLY been corrected.

E-sangha, Buddhist Forum and Buddhism Forum > Buddha Nature - Simply
Once you become aware of your own buddha nature, some experience a phase of seeing buddha reflected in others which is an intermediate state related to mirror mind and it seems to them that the whole universe has buddha nature....
Buddha said to Ananda, "It is your perception of false appearances based on external objects which deludes your true nature and has caused you from beginningless time to your present life to recognize a thief as your son, to lose your eternal source, and to undergo the wheel’s turning."
Buddha nature is presumably a different experience for everyone but as I see it self and other are all one buddha, keep going and you become that buddha of self and other infact you always were that buddha.

 Intros Book 1
In this chapter Master Dogen quoted Master Seppo Gison's words "When a foreigner comes in front of the mirror, the mirror reflects the foreigner." From these words we can understand the eternal mirror as a symbol of some human mental faculty.
In this chapter Master Dogen explains the meaning of the eternal mirror in Buddhism, quoting the words of ancient Buddhist masters.
Master Dogen took the middle way on the problem: rather than deny the value of reading sutras, he said that reading sutras is one way of finding out what Buddhist practice is.

Mirror Guidance - Buddhism Is the Mirror That Perfectly Reflects Our Lives
Just as a mirror is indispensable for putting your face and hair in order, you need a mirror that reveals the depths of your life if you are to lead a happier and more beautiful existence.
A polished mirror is the Buddha’s life, whereas a tarnished mirror is that of a common mortal.
This mirror is none other than the Gohonzon of "observing one’s mind," or more precisely, observing one’s life.

The Captain Beefheart Radar Station - Buddha's Safe As Milk and Mirror Man re-issues reviewed
Buddha's Safe As Milk and The Mirror Man Sessions boast a brand new mastering of two magnificent albums, an unreleased tune, eleven hard-to-find outtakes, several unseen photographs, new and informative sleeve-notes, the re-emergence of original packaging which hasn't been seen for some time, and the correction of some very old mistakes.
Mirror Man kicks off as always with Tarotplane, still complete with the distortion on the harmonica in the opening bars, though things probably wouldn't be quite right without it.
The difference is that Buddha's new mastering is a triumph that really separates the sounds and draws you in to explore.

When I attain the Buddhahood, if the Bodhisattvas of that country of mine wish to see the boundless, holy, pure Buddha-worlds of the ten quarters, they will at once behold them from the jewel-trees as though one's face were being reflected in a highly burnished, brilliant mirror, otherwise may I not attain the enlightenment.
When I obtain the Buddhahood, the heavenly beings of boundless and inconceivable Buddha-worlds of the ten quarters, having heard my name, should not worship me with prostrate reverence, and joyfully and faithfully perform their Bodhisattva-duty, and be honoured by gods and men, then may I not attain the enlightenment.

The Buddha in Your Mirror reveals Nichiren's practical teachings in the style of a modern self-help book, yet it is rooted in an ancient philosophy that has stood the test of centuries.
Your practice of the Buddhist teachings will not relieve you of the sufferings of birth and death in the least unless you perceive the true nature of your life.
