The Blood Brothers - PopMatters Concert Review
I figured by then that Blilie and Whitney would have turned their larynxes into undifferentiated cellular masses with their intense vocal stylings, and the whole band would have crumbled into a sweated-out dehydrated mess, but everyone had managed to hang in there to the end.
Having recalibrated the space to its liking, the band proceeded to wail through one screamo hit after another.
They undulated in time with the Brothers, no matter how convoluted the band's rhythmic changes, and struggled to be as close to the stage as space would allow, trying to become part of the Blood Brothers family.

Yes, the Brothers still overuse lyrical gore the way the Evil Dead series did Kero syrup, but their sonic pace and intensity has somewhat slowed.

Before the album was finished, it was decided that the group would lay itself to rest - Johnny’s commitment to the BROTHERS was compromising his time, and the band were eager to get on with touring, etc. So, after a single west coast tour in the summer of 2001, SOILED DOVES called it a day.
Three of the four DOVES were soon to be members of the critically-acclaimed CHROMATICS, while vocalist Johnny was on loan from local heroes THE BLOOD BROTHERS (Three One G, Second Nature).

Wives: Erect the Youth Problem Aversion.com Review
Wives somehow turn the trick on Erect the Youth Problem, nipping the aesthetic, if not the sound, of punk’s most visceral rockers from The Dead Boys and Black Flag to The Locust and Blood Brothers.
Partially sustained by the band’s orgiastic love of noise, partially held together by the band’s absolute disdain for anything that could be considered remotely mainstream, Wives are everything out of bounds that punk celebrates – the exact opposite of blueprint-based teen-punk ragers.
Sometimes Wives swing through atom-bomb blasts of guitar and drums that push VU meters dangerously into the red, then back off to an awkward, ambling bass line (“Wasted Again, Again”).
