Tex Williams and His Western Caravan were signed to the fledgling Capitol label and continued in the same vein of danceable western swing that had been popular for Cooley, though their sales, while respectable, failed to reach the top of the charts.
Williams told country music researcher Ken Griffis in 1979 that he had to work on his bass singing voice: he naturally had a normal vocal range, but with practice he developed the baritone that appears on recordings.
From 1947 to '57, Tex Williams and His Western Caravan recorded songs like "Don't Telephone, Don't Telegraph, Tell a Woman," a good-natured poke at women and gossip, and "Suspicion," about a man attempting to confirm his wife's infidelities.

Annotated Best Country Music on CD List
As it turns out the songs on this set I like the best are the sparse folkish ones from Blood, as well as a few others in the same vein, which means I'd probably pick up the original album if it is reissued on CD.
All of the Hank Williams albums mentioned above can be replaced by one of these two collections.
With 18 tracks the Rhino disk is a good collection, although it doesn't include Jerry Lee's great cover of Hank William's "You Win Again", but it does get such semi-obscure stuff as "Drinkin' Wine Spodee-oodee," "Crazy Arms," "Lewis Boogie," and "Big Legged Woman", which sort of makes up for it.

A version, performed by Tex Williams, is available on an EMI CD: cdb 7921862.
Its most widely known modern version is perhaps the view that for environmental reasons we do well to think as if the world is a complex organism (sometimes rather preciously called Gaia), whose unity is not lightly to be taken for granted.

His free-hand designs drew the attention of the young Hank Williams, who introduced Nudie suits to Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry.
He made his first fancy country star suits for Tex Williams and his band and they were a hit at the Riverside Rancho, where Williams played - and which gave Nudie an exhibit of his creations.

 TEX WILLIAMS
Sollie Paul "Tex" Williams moved from Illinois (where he'd already entered the music business) to California in the 1930s.
Tex launched his own Western Caravan as a Capitol Records act and ballroom favorite in 1946, and the following year he enjoyed his career hit, co-written with Merle Travis and Capitol producer Cliffie Stone -- "Smoke!
There he eventually became the main vocalist for Spade Cooley's great western swing band, singing his huge 1945 hit "Shame On You."

Country Standard Time: CD Review Tex Williams
Mainly known nowadays for their 1947 recording of Merle Travis' classic "Smoke!
(That Cigarette)," Tex Williams and His Western Caravan was as good a western swing band as any that existed in the post-war era.
Made up of radio airchecks recorded at various venues in southern California, this is a worthy reminder of the days when western swing acts blanketed the ballrooms of the southwest.
