 Clef Symbols
A C clef symbol placed on the third line of the musical staff marks that line as middle C. C clef pointing to the third line of the musical staff is called an alto clef.
A C clef pointing to the fourth line of the musical staff marks that line as C. It is called a tenor clef.
F clef and the G clef helped to designate which key the singer will sing the song.

 Lesson 24: Other Clefs
The alto clef is used by violas in an orchestra.
With the neutral clef, no pitches are indicated, because this clef is used by instruments that produce no specific pitch: snare drum, bass drum, tom toms, etc. The staff also looks a little unusual: it is obviously a staff for two different percussion instruments, one with a high sound, the other with a low sound.
This 2-line staff, with the neutral clef at the beginning would be ideal for two different sizes of tom toms.

From what I've seen, the guitar is written in treble clef just as, say, the violin is. The fact that the guitar sounds an octave lower than the violin when playing from the same score is a feature of the instrument's notation conventions, not of the clef.
The G clef on the bottom line of the staff is known as the French violin clef.
I've seen the 8 on vocal tenor parts (or sometimes two treble clefs, or that weird one that superimposes a c clefon the space), but not much on guitar or hardly ever on bass parts.
