Music of Irving Berlin, Page 1
Among the songs he wrote with Kalmar and/or Leslie are: Moonlight on the Rhine, In The Land of Harmony and The Ghost of the Violin.
Berlin's earliest successes came as a lyricist and it was only when a publisher bought one of his songs assuming it included the melody, was Berlin "forced" to write music also.
Later, he was a cafe pianist, and then a staff pianist and song plugger in Chicago and New York music publishing houses.

Choreographer-turned-director Bob Fosse (Cabaret, Lenny) turns the camera on himself in this nervy, sometimes unnerving 1979 feature, a nakedly autobiographical piece that veers from gritty drama to razzle-dazzle musical, allegory to satire.

BW Online September 17, 2001 Ted Snyder: Chicago's Hope
Snyder, 48, is the man who is supposed to change all that.
Snyder can ride that wave of enthusiasm until he gets his bearings and plans a strategy, something he says he'll do in the next year after extensive input from all sides.
"The administration is ridiculously out of touch with students' concerns." With his frequent Sunday dinners and morning coffees with students, Snyder could turn the tide.

Snyder chosen as new GSB Dean
As dean at Darden, Snyder directed the first expansion in 23 years of the school’s M.B.A. program, increased the diversity of the student body, led a successful fund-raising drive, including a record $60 million gift from a single donor, and significantly increased the school’s executive education revenue.
Snyder succeeds Robert Hamada, who is completing his eighth year as Dean.
According to the 2001 edition of Business Week’s Guide to the Best Business Schools, Snyder has “immersed himself” in his duties at Darden, having regular breakfasts and Sunday dinners with students at his home.

 newsMonroe Street Journal
News of Snyder's departure has saddened the UMBS community, but Snyder said that his departure should be viewed as "a sign of health and Michigan's strength.
This place is on a roll, we've got a great faculty and tremendous corporate visibility.
This is not the first time an associate dean at Michigan has been recruited to lead another top B-school.

 Smoky Mountain News Outdoors
Perhaps it was more along the line of, hey if you compare and contrasts the benefits of having enhanced cell phone capabilities with the environmental degradations (viewshed impairments, bird kills, etc) of placing three more tall towers in the park, the more environmentally sensitive choice would be not to build the towers.
To paraphrase, Snyder asked why people needed cell phones in the national park and how had we managed to do without them until now.
And there is no denying that cell phones are useful little devices and I don’t see people tossing them anymore than they would their refrigerator or automobile or computer.

Tin Pan Alley Composer and lyricist Biographies
Hans Engelmann wrote a number of works that were for children and several other works, one of which has remained in the popular repertoire for a century, his Melody of Love (MIDI) from 1903 which we featured way back in '98.
Egan had a number of other extremely well known hits that have lasted till modern times including the great songs, Ain't We Got Fun, Sleepy Time Gal and Three on A Match.
Egan collaborated with many of the best composers of the Tin Pan Alley Era, among them were Walter Donaldson, Ted Fio Rito and Harry Tierney.

BW Online May 9, 2001 Can Chicago's New Dean Warm Up the Windy City?
But if Snyder's and Jain's aspirations play out well, things should be interesting around the Windy City this fall.
But all students want to feel as if they've got a say.
B-schools have never been known as hotbeds of change, so a new set of deans can't be expected to precipitate industry-shifting innovations.
