I'm also a bit perplexed within the Squeezebox software that I don't seem to be able to "fast forward" within a song.
I've converted my entire CD collection into mp3's and learned a lot about EAC, LAME, etc. I used musicmatch for part of the collection and will probably eventually go back and reconvert (though I did do VBR).
Sure there are other devices out there that will provide the same end-result, streaming audio, but I think it is the little things that set this device apart from the others.
