 Information about U.S. FDC: 32¢ Sonny Terry: American Music Series
The two musicians made their first recording in 1941 and later performed in nightclubs, concerts, and at folk and blues music festivals.
During the 1980s, Terry performed the sound track in Ry Cooder's film, Crossroads, and also appeared in and performed some sound track music for Steven Spielberg's, The Color Purple.
Terry and McGhee performed the sound track for the 1972 film, Buck and the Preacher, starring Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte.

Bull City Red played the concert with Terry, whose music was exposed to a new audience.
He continued to record regularly with Fuller and Red and was the only artist that Fuller backed on record.
In 1937, Terry went to New York to record with Fuller and Floyd Council and appeared on Blind Boy Fuller songs in every recording session after that.

By that McGhee was recording for Okeh records in Chicago, but his real success did not come until his 1942 relocation to New York City, where he was teamed up with Terry.
Walter "Brownie" McGhee ( 1915 - 1996) was a folk - blues singer and guitarist, best known for his collaborations with the harmonica player Sonny Terry.
At the age of 22 he was became travelling musician, meeting and befriending Blind Boy Fuller, whose guitar playing influenced him greatly, (to the extent that after Fuller's death in 1941, McGhee adopted his mentor's name, styling himself Blind Boy Fuller II).
