 A Genre to Remember
This politicization of the nyam mgur poetic songs of experience tradition is reflected in some poetic “songs” that surfaced in exile composed by Tibetan Buddhist nuns imprisoned in Drapchi prison.
The enormous appeal of the poetic song genre for Tibetans, and in particular the genre of nyam mgur or poetic songs of experience, can be explained at least in part by their ability to facilitate both remembrance and emotional expression.

Delusions of Adequacy Reviews - Campfire Songs
Generally, however, the songs are a wash of sound; there aren't any tunes on here that you'll be humming, and Campfire Songs is more of an ambient experience than anything else.
The songs sound at least partially improvised, but it's difficult to tell, and the band offers little information about themselves or the songs.
What Campfire Songs do is play acoustic guitars and sing.

Interview with David Lowery of Cracker (NY Rock)
This is my tenth album [fourth with Cracker]; I think that hardly a songwriter has enough experience to fill more than two albums with autobiographical songs.
We did that with only two songs, one of them is "Lullaby." I gave it to Eric Drilling while he was still working on the script for the movie and he wrote a scene for the song.
There were a couple of songs - actually the majority of the songs - which were like eight to ten years old.

As it was, DBX still played their asses off and put on a fantastic and entertaining show, showcasing songs from DBX, GWAR and the X-Cops, but for a capacity 276 locale, it should have had way more than 50 people.
I am not sure why DBX did not play longer, actually, except that bands can only give so much of themselves for 50 fucking people...well, that and the fact that most of the band's songs are 3 minutes or less.....
The mosh pit itself was almost as entertaining as the songs were.

 Philosophy Songs
My "Songs of Experience" were formed in their midst, and reflect their kinder, gentler environs, and perhaps as well, my own middling age.

The first four songs (and others besides either incomplete or forgotten) were first composed while I was a graduate student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Since I was a playwright, Steve kept urging me to write a musical with his songs but, alas, I could think of no way to incorporate bitingly autobiographical songs into a fictional setting.
The first song was called "Connected," an account of his near-death experience at Santa Monica Hospital the previous Mother's Day.

Though it was Hopkins who was ultimately responsible for the album's success (he wrote or co-wrote six of the songs, including the hit singles "Hey Jealousy," and "Found Out About You"), he was fired from the band soon after recording was completed because of an out-of-control drinking problem and severe episodes of depression.

 PRINCE IN PRINT
For The Gold Experience, his songs are connected by a dispassionate computer voice prompt that guides the listener through a menu of "experiences" - love, hate, revenge.
And even as good as The Gold Experience is, some of it at first seems a tad retreaded, a combination of previously released stuff with some smart new tracks.
Although The Gold Experience enjoys the services of some very tight, skillful musicians (not the least of whom are the folks who compose the horn section from the old Paisley Park act Madhouse), all you really hear is the heart, soul and mind of our once and future Prince.

 Metroactive Music The Prodigy
Like all bold new bands, the Prodigy relies on a style--multiethnic members with pierced nipples and eyebrows--that is somewhat futuristic, and its songs allude vaguely to revolution in the streets.
Nevertheless, the ailing American recording industry is now looking to the Prodigy to reignite the passion for rock and roll, hoping that the band will serve as a gun in the face of the lardlike music scene, particularly the overfed, easygoing sounds of leftover rock stars like the ones at the Furthur Festival.
For the last four years, the Prodigy has topped the charts in Britain with huge dance-floor hits like "Charly," "Fire," "Poison" and "What Evil Lurks." The band's LPs, The Prodigy Experience (1992) and Music for the Jilted Generation (1994), were monsters.
