Their first album. The Scream is the purest punk album from siouxsie and the banshees. The opening track is called exactly that,"Pure",but that is only an instrumental fade in opening.
Siouxsie & the Banshees' debut LP The Scream seems to me a record that has been a bit overlooked- the Banshees had been around since the inception of punk (Sioux & Severin were with the Pistols on that classic Grundy-interview).
The trio of albums (Kaleidoscope, Ju-Ju, Kiss in the Dreamhouse) recorded with the late John McGeoch are almost as great as The Scream (afterwards the Banshees were a bit patchy), but this remains in many ways their ultimate statement and one of the greatest debut albums released.

Due to its relative obscurity to the general public, the Massachusetts punk band A Wilhelm Scream has used the name for the last two years.

Munch's nameless terror suits our millennial mood just fine, but his 19th century melancholia and gloomy introspection are out of tune with the media-circus atmosphere of the late 20th century.
A spectre is haunting pop culture - the spectre of The Scream, Edvard Munch's 1893 painting of a wild-eyed figure on a bridge, hands clapped to his head, mouth contorted in a silent shriek of angst and anomie.
Thus, while Munch's Screamer is the perfect totem for our pop angst, we read his overwrought hysteria as campy, which may be why he's ended up on a Scream-patterned dress worn by the drag comedian Dame Edna, who insists that the schmatte-clad androgyne is really yelling, "Oh no, I've lost my earrings."
