Waters is also known to be working on a new solo album, which (as remarked to Jim Ladd, with whom he worked on Radio K.A.O.S.) has the working title of Heartland, and that it might be released in 2006.
Waters and Pink Floyd reunited for a performance at the Live 8 concert in London, on July 2, 2005.
Waters would refer or allude to the loss of his father throughout his work, especially on The Final Cut album from 1983 (which is dedicated to his father) and the song named "When the Tigers Broke Free" from the movie version of The Wall.

Roger does a particular thing, and listening to this album has driven up my respect for him ten-fold.

Waters is a powerful and moving writer of both lyrics and music, even when he is not in his prime.
This was clearly not Waters at his peak musically, but the lyrics were poignant.
What he needs to do is work on that song with Gilmour since the guitar work definitely doesn't do the song justice.

Roger just seems to have a real grasp on the feelings of the songs, instead of just the notes and the colored lights that seem to accompany them.
Roger did not expend a lot of time and energy making a show so spectacular that you could enjoy it even without the music.

The song ends differently: the two lines "All in all it's just another brick in the wall" and "All and all you're just another brick in the wall" were added right after the guitar solo, to end the song abruptly (instead of the music fade-out and teacher's screams on the live album).
On this version, all the instrumental tracks were re-recorded (there's no orchestra or piano, and the guitar lines are different from those on the live album).
No studio version has surfaced, although it is said that Roger Waters and the Bleeding Heart Band recorded it for the follow up to "Radio K.A.O.S." (that was never released).

Following the recent news that Pink Floyd guitarist/vocalist David Gilmour is set to release a new solo album and tour the world, Floyd's former bassist/vocalist Roger Waters is preparing to perform the monumental 1973 album Dark Side of the Moon it its entirety this summer in France.
Roger Waters broke the band up with is ego.
If nothing else, Waters deserves respect for the talent that he is. Screw Gilmore, post-Final Cut Floyd is just a lame excuse and doesn't deserve to carry the name Pink Floyd...just call it the David Gilmore Show.

This was no exception as Waters and his band took the stage with only a perfunctory introduction from Jim Ladd (who was featured on "Radio K.A.O.S.").
About the only disappointment in the concert was the utter lack of any songs from "Radio K.A.O.S." (again, Waters' finest solo work, IMHO).
As the band went on to play many other songs ranging from very early Floyd ("Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun") to selections from Waters' latest work ("The Bravery of Being Out of Range" and "Perfect Sense" from "Amused to Death"), the change in Waters was apparent.

On the original 'Amused To Death' album, Roger had wanted to use the voice of HAL, the computer from "2001: A Space Odyssey" that goes mad and has to be disconnected.
Rogers voice was stronger and highlights were PP Arnold, Snowy White and Graham Broad's percussion solo.
I was amazed at the number of young people in the audience, especially later during the show when I heard them singing along to the lyrics.

Fresh off the one-time reunion of his band at the London Live 8 concert, Waters will release Ça Ira (There Is Hope) — an opera about the French Revolution — on September 27.
The three-act Ça Ira — for full orchestra, soloists and choirs — is set to be performed at a concert in Rome in November but the ultimate goal is for it to be produced by an opera company, Waters said.
