Roger Andrew Taylor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Roger Andrew Taylor (born April 26, 1960) is the drummer for the electronic pop/rock band Duran Duran.
In 2001, Taylor rejoined Duran Duran, as all five of the original members reunited to record new material.
In 1994, he joined Duran Duran in France to play drums on a couple of tracks for the covers album Thank You.

Roger has also been working on his seventh solo album, which is hopefully due for a release in late 1997.
In 1987, Roger advertised as a "drummer of a top rock band looking for musicians", and several auditions later, The Cross were formed.
Roger took lead vocals and insisted he wasn't the drummer - that was Josh Macrae.

Roger Taylor: I thought that it was great, the audience was wonderful and I think that we put together a hell of a show in about two months.

 Roger Taylor
Experiencing the "punk" phenomenon first-hand, it was while living in London that Taylor first became interested in working as a radio presenter, while listening to the BBC.
It was while living in Brisbane in 1970 that Roger Taylor first met Matt Taylor, Phil Manning, Barry Sullivan and Barry Harvey ("Big & Little Goose") who were gigging together weekly at a small nightclub in Fortitude Valley.

The name was "the Cross", and this time Roger did practice he's guitar skill.
Queen did not do so many performances at this time, and Roger wanted to play live with a group (after two solo record).
Roger produced Magnum Lp "Vigilante" with Dave Richards (Later the Cross played with magnum on tour,I had the privileges to see one concert)

Official International Queen Fan Club About Roger Taylor...
In 1957, aged eight, Roger was watching his cousin play simple tunes on his guitar and decided then and there he wanted a guitar too.
The band were called the Bubblingover Boys and played skiffle music.
Roger went back to university intent on getting into another band.

 Duran Duran
With the same undeniable musical chemistry and signature style that propelled them to the top of the charts, the band have reunited to record a new album that already looks set to be one of their best yet.
Formed in Birmingham, England in 1978, by keyboardist Nick Rhodes and bassist John Taylor, Duran Duran's sound was inspired by the soul music of their youth, the vibrant New York underground music scene of the 70's (the New York Dolls and Velvet Underground), the iconic David Bowie and avant garde bands like Roxy Music.
With Roger on board, John took up the bass and the newly christened Duran Duran (named after a character in Roger Vadim's sci-fi classic, Barbarella) started to develop a funky style, that was less about punk rock and more in tune with some of the up-and-coming bands of the day, like Simple Minds and Japan.

 Radio Ga Ga
In the past, I have taken some shots at the songwriting ability of Roger Taylor, mainly because of his bad solo albums, but also because his songs never quite seemed to mesh with the other Queen songs, topic-wise.
In the middle of what seems to be an album inspired solely by fantasy novels, there's a song about leaving home.
It's not the best song that Roger ever wrote, and it's not the best song that Queen ever recorded, but that doesn't really matter.

Originally it was supposed to be released, and Roger had signed with Virgin Records and was working on a release deal.
At about the same time, he had saved enough to buy an inexpensive acoustic guitar and began to play it, but his interest in the guitar was short lived, and he found himself being more interested by the percussion side of things.

First of all, I don't just own one copy of Roger's bad solo albums.
I have spent years defending the songwriting abilities of Roger in general, and the song I'm In Love With My Car in particular.
There is a part of my record collection that can be blamed on Roger Taylor.

Roger Taylor “I remember thinking, ‘Jesus, this singer is like, not only does he sing amazingly well, he does all these things with a mic stand and he moves like a snake, like a sort of cobra.’ And of course then, they had a lot of hits, some great records.
Roger was in touching distance (so were Paul and Brian) when they came to the end of the catwalk.

Roger Taylor's other novels are just as good, if not better in some ways, and he is best known for his epic fantasy Dream Finder.
One of the things that has been quite dominant in my time reading sf and fantasy literature is the British genre of this fiction.

"I hate Musicals”, said drummer Roger Taylor, but not this musical, this is genuine Rock 'n 'Roll." The musical (premiere on December 12th) isn’t a piece about the life of the Queen musicians.
This is a rough cut of interviews with Brian May and Roger Taylor, taken on the day of the concert.
The musicians of QUEEN were already looking for a long time for a chance to realize their music in a music theatre.

Returning to Duran Duran (music) four years ago has proven nothing short of inspirational for drummer Roger Taylor.
Roger Taylor: It surprised us all, I think.
The quintet--which also includes singer Simon LeBon, guitarist Andy Taylor and keyboardist Nick Rhodes--quickly got into the creative swing, writing more than 30 songs, among them the techno-inspired hit "Sunrise."

Roger Taylor recently appeared on BBC Radio Two’s Steve Wright show to talk about the book – amongst other things – and Brian May is scheduled to appear on Virgin Radio& Ben Jones show in early April.
Further to previous news of the SAS Mercury Phoenix Trust Show to take place on 2nd April at The Shepherd's Bush Empire, Treana Morris, famously discovered by Roger Taylor and who performed with him on the track Surrender on his Electric Fire Album, has been added to the line up.
The article goes on to say that in Cologne the songs will be sung partially in German - the best known songs like "We Will Rock You" will remain in the original language, and that the musical will run for at least one year in Cologne, starting probably 12 December 2004.

The legend that became Queen, Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon and the late Freddie Mercury - have accounted for record sales in excess of 150 million since the release of their first album Queen in 1973.
No wonder May and Taylor invited Elton to write the book for the Queen musical, We Will Rock You.
Before I can say Freddie Mercury, Elton is skidding through A Night at the Opera, untangling the mysteries of Bohemian Rhapsody ("Bo Rap") and defending the reputation of this legendary British band (Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon).

While the final contract hasn't been negotiated yet, Taylor has told people at forums that he envisions a tenure of three to ten years.
Despite two editorials in the Register-Mail encouraging them to continue their search and a group of students who wanted a democratically-elected president, Taylor has no doubt he's right for the job and the best choice for the school.
The main goal of Roger Taylor is ''to get the word out locally, regionally and nationally that 'this is a fantastic school.' We need to do a better job of letting ourselves and the world know about Knox.

...:: Queen + Paul Rodgers Tour 2005 by Franco Lai ::...
