Family (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Family was a British Progressive rock band comprising Roger Chapman on vocals, John "Charlie" Whitney on guitar, Jim King on sax and flute, Rick Grech on bass, violin and vocals and Rob Townsend on drums.
The sound of this album was largely based around Roger Chapman's rather odd vocalizations, Rick Grech's classically trained violin playing and the jazzy reed and horn work of Jim King which, while very psychedelic in nature, sounded far more sophisticated and mature than a lot of other albums of the genre.
Before their 1969 US tour, Ric Grech, whose violin playing had been very integral to Family's sound, unexpectedly left to join Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker in the supergroup Blind Faith and was replaced by former Eric Burdon and the Animals bassist John Weider.

Ric Grech sessions (The Musicians' Olympus)
This album was released in 1977, with several Ginger musicians from the past: Ric Grech (bass) and Snips (vocals), plus the magnificent Chris Spedding (guitar), Herbie Flowers (bass), Kuma Harada (bass), DeLisle Harper (bass), Derek Wadsworth (trombone), Alan Skidmore (sax), and others.
This flute player was Ric companion in Ginger Baker's Airforce, and played in lots of Donovan and Alexis Korner albums, plus some other albums from albums with members in my Olympus, like Steamhammer ( Micky Waller), Cressida (with Iain Clark, the fabulous drummer, once in Uriah Heep).
She also sang in some other albums by Wendell Richardson (guitarist from Osibisa and Free), Yvonne Elliman, Kevin Ayers, Baker-Gurvitz Army, and she sang in some other album where Ric appears.

 Rick Grech b
Grech then moved to America where a brief association with Gram Parsons resulted in his composing Kiss The Children and Las Vegas with the ill-fated country singer.
Bassist Ric (sometimes Rick) Grech embraced professional music in 1965 when he joined Leicester-based group, the Farinas, which later evolved into Family.
By doubling on violin, Grech added considerable texture to an already inventive, exciting attraction but abandoned them in rancorous circumstances during an American tour.

Please reissue Vivian Stanshall's MEN OPENING UMBRELLAS AHEAD, Warner Brothers! Petition
He was assisted by famous musicians such as Steve Winwood (Traffic), Ric Grech (Blind Faith), and Neil Innes (The Rutles and fellow Bonzo Dog Band alumnus like Vivian), so people who appreciate their music (and there are many) will be enticed to purchase "Men Opening Umbrellas Ahead".
Also, the late Vivian Stanshall was among the first rock musicians to utilise African musical styles and he did so on this album.
Around the period that "Men Opening Umbrellas Ahead" was recorded, Vivian Stanshall released a single "Lakonga" which is extremely rare at this time.

Bandlink Music Forums - Top 10 Forgotten CR Albums
The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys is more like a journey than a collection of songs; with Steve Winwood at the helm, the flute of Chris Wood, Jim Capaldi's percussion and Ric Grech on bass, one would expect no less.
Sadly, the band became the victim of their own talents; five singles from this album were released at once, and the result was overkill.
This 1967 debut album was released at a time when all band members wrote, arranged, played and sang.

Balls - Free Music Downloads, Videos, CDs, MP3s, Bio, Merchandise and Links
Melody Maker reported in 1970 that Balls had done 12 tracks for an album, which didn't appear (and they were not signed to a label at the time anyway); it's also been speculated that Ric Grech appeared on some of those cuts.
It's also been written that White actually left at the end of 1969, with Kellie coming in considerably earlier, and that Lomax was never actually in the band.
Laine and White wrote "Janie Slow Down," a pedestrian hard rock number with a bit of a boogie feel.
