 CountryReview.com - Bluegrass Review - Rhonda Vincent
Vincent shares the spotlight with her band, showcasing their talents as musicians and songwriters by including many new songs written or co-written by members of The Rage.
While Vincent is a consummate studio musician with nine solo albums, a Grammy nomination, and a host of awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association (including five consecutive Female Vocalist of the Year trophies) to her credit, recording a live CD and DVD that was up to her rigorous standards was a demanding task.
Most musicians use concert albums as a chance to reflect back on a career, dredging up old favorites and surprise obscurities to the delight of their hardcore fans.

 Rhonda Vincent @ eFolkMusic
Rhonda and her band the Rage have been the talk of bluegrass festivals the past two years, playing hard driving, high energy traditional bluegrass music.
Vincent began her professional music career at the age of 5 with her family’s band the Sally Mountain Show.
After leaving Giant, Rhonda started playing a few festivals and realized that bluegrass music is where her heart is. Rhonda talked to Ken Irwin, President of Rounder Records, and she was pleased to find that they were both on the same musical page.

 Rhonda Vincent
Rhonda Vincent is a breath of fresh air, her homespun bluegrass drenched country music a welcome relief from most of the overproduced, overdubbed diva vocals heard on today's mainstream stations.
Most recent fans discovered her with her previous album The Storm Rages On, but Rhonda has an amazing 19 other albums to her credit, which is not too much of a stretch of the imagination if you consider she began her career at the tender age of five.
Along with a respect for the tradition of bluegrass music, Rhonda also brings a new energy and youthfulness to the genre that has, for better or worse, been challenged by stigmas and misconceptions as the music heads into future.

Country Standard Time: Rhonda Vincent, March 2005
Vincent, who introduces Ingram as someone she listened to every morning on the Martha White Hour while growing up, added that it was hard to believe he was onstage with her, let alone a member of the Rage.
Vincent's affable blend of in-your-face bluegrass and sweet country ballads has also led to a catalog of records a mile long and a list of honors, awards and appearances that clearly reveal Vincent has remained in the upper echelon of bluegrass music for well over a decade.
Note that Vincent, who spent several years in the mid-'90s recording for now-defunct country label Giant Records, which included country singers Clay Walker and Daryle Singletary, among others, rarely uses the term "I" when speaking about her music.

Country Standard Time: Rhonda Vincent, January 2000
While still, releasing bluegrass albums, Vincent was trying her hand at being a country music recording artist.
Vincent says she "wanted the album to be traditional.
Vincent is extremely proud of "Back Home Again," saying that it shows her style and voice better than any of the recordings she has done in the past.

Country Standard Time: Rhonda Vincent, May 2003
Vincent says she was at Silver City in Branson, Mo. Cherryholmes, who is part of a family band from Arizona, was going to be playing at Branson.
On Vincent's return to bluegrass, "Back Home Again," she wrote exactly 1 of the 12 songs, and most of the 1 ("Little Angels") was written by a Canadian woman.
The two met when Vincent was gathering songs for "The Storm Still Rages," her album from 2001.

 Bluegrass Unlimited
Vincent wasn't comfortable singing the '90s versions of drinkin' and cheatin' songs, either.
Vincent doesn't always use her bandmembers on her recordings, which has probably bruised a few musical egos.
Vincent grew up playing bluegrass and country music.

 Back Home Again Rhonda Vincent
Apart from being a wonderful singer, Rhonda is an accomplished musician and plays most of the mandolin parts on this album.
Although the albums (Written in the stars, Trouble free) were of a high quality, Rhonda didn't make the breakthrough she was hoping for and returned to her beloved bluegrass music with this album.
Comment: Rhonda was raised on bluegrass music and began her recording career as a bluegrass singer before trying to break into mainstream country.

Folk Alley Extras (( Rhonda Vincent ))
Rhonda Vincent steered the Martha White Bluegrass Express to the Folk Alley studios and sat down with Jim Blum for a conversation about life on the road, her band (The Rage) and their latest album, family and the differences - real and perceived - between bluegrass and country music today.
Jim and Rhonda discuss creating music and the difference in country and bluegrass instrumentation and song structure.
Named the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Female Vocalist of the Year for five consecutive years, Rhonda Vincent is one of the most powerful voices in bluegrass, finding fans amongst both die-hard traditionalists and lovers of today's country music.

Rhonda Vincent MP3, Songs and Albums
Rhonda Vincent has so adeptly incorporated the sparkling production of the best contemporary bluegrass recordings with the heartfelt songwriting and passionate playing of the classic era of traditional bluegrass that her third album for Rounder hits that almost perfect balance: updated enough to not sound stuffy, but faithful enough to still sound honest.
News: Rhonda Vincent Blends the 'Ole' with the 'New' on 'Grand Ole Opry Live'
She picked up the mandolin at eight and the fiddle at ten, performing with the family band at festivals on weekends.

 Amazon.com: Music: One Step Ahead
The bottomline is that Rhonda Vincent has created a long-term vision for her music.
This instrumental 'Frankie Belle' starts out with Rhonda on mando, and then is joined by Molly Cherryholmes on Fiddle, doing a break in unison, and then as each instrument filters in, Ronnie Stewart and Bryon Sutton show their stuff on guitar and banjo.
The story of a child experiencing the divorce of parents is told in "Caught in the Crossfire." A trucker's song, "Ridin' the Red Line," is a homecoming song of pedal to the metal.

 MusicWorld Feature: Rhonda Vincent
With over 30 years of performing and recording experience under her belt, Rhonda Vincent can be easily labeled a music business veteran.
Born into music in a way that few contemporary musicians are, Vincent began singing with her family's band, the Sally Mountain Show, not long after her third birthday.
Back Home Again, released in January of 2000, was Rhonda's proud return to the music of her upbringing.

 Rhonda Vincent
Rhonda managed to produce 8 albums by 1985.
One of the few entertainers able to do this is bluegrass talent Rhonda Vincent with her band The Rage.
With the success of this CD, Rhonda followed it with the June, 2001 release of 'The Storm Still Rages'.

 Rhonda Vincent
She calls it her most 'challenging' project to date—challenging from the standpoint of squeezing studio time in the midst of her highest career wave to date—and in between finding time to create new music for the album.
Built on a bedrock of deeply rooted traditional bluegrass soil, the twelve tracks showcase the modern edgy vibe that has made Rhonda Vincent hands down the best thing to happen to bluegrass since the invention of stringed instruments.
At a time when the genre grass was never greener, a dark haired beauty is the runaway thoroughbred of bluegrass music.

This is one of Rhonda's earliest albums, but Rhonda had plenty of practice long before she got a recording contract.
It is futile to say which is her best album, as they are all of a consistently high quality.
Some of these tracks can be found on the compilation Blue tears, so if you only want one of Rhonda's albums, you might consider that instead - but be warned - you might enjoy it so much that you buy all her other albums anyway.

FAME Review: Rhonda Vincent - Back Home Again
Vincent has called Back Home Again "the first recording of the 17 albums I've made that truly captures my music, style, and voice." It's a solid album that leaves you feeling good every time you listen to it.
In this case the artist is Rhonda Vincent, and the album is Back Home Again.
The first time I played this album, this cut got five or six repeats.

FAME Review: Rhonda Vincent - The Storm Still Rages
Vincent also gets some country flavor on the album with a great version of Carl Jackson's and Melba Montgomery's I'm Not Over You," also the source for the title of the album.
Both a tribute to Monroe and to the music he created, this is a song destined to be heard at many a bluegrass jam.
It would not be reasonable to think that her next album would be anything close to the gem that one was.

mtv.com - News - Rhonda Vincent, O Brother Top Bluegrass Awards
Vincent marked her return to bluegrass with the release last year of Back Home Again, followed this year by The Storm Still Rages.
She left a family band in 1985 for a brief stint with country singer and Grand Ole Opry star Jim Ed Brown, and she issued two country albums on Giant Records in the mid '90s.
Vincent picked up a third trophy for Recorded Event of the Year.

6/11/2005 - Rhonda Vincent Brings Sunshine To Rainy Riverbend - Happenings - Chattanoogan.com
In a world in which so many performers seem to believe they are the center of the universe, we in attendance at Vincent’s performance last night witnessed a show by a performer that fully realizes that her fellow band members are part and parcel of her subtle, touching talent.
Vincent’s band, The Rage, eliminated my banjo phobia for the evening.
She and her band, The Rage, braved the precarious posit that “the show must go on.” And, they displayed no small amount of bravery by singing into electrified microphones in the damp air—not fun, and not very safe.

 Rhonda Vincent
(With all due respect, I will mention for the record that she's also a drop dead redhead.) The DNA matched vocal sound with her bassist brother Darrin Vincent is spine tingling in spots, and heavenly throughout.
I particularly liked the bass harmony of Ray Deaton and the fingerstyle guitar of Tom Mills on "You Don't Love God If You Don't Love Your Neighbor."
The artist has been the IBMA Vocalist of the Year the last two years running, she's perfect.

NCWC: Dunn Center Season Events - Rhonda Vincent and The Rage
Rhonda Vincent has become one of a handful of extraordinary singers whose voices personify the grace, power, and the poetry of contemporary bluegrass music.
Now a power-house bluegrass singer after a long sojourn in mainstream country, Vincent draws on her roots for what the music's patriarch, Bill Monroe, called "ancient tones." Vincent is fast becoming an international ambassador of bluegrass.
Her latest accomplishment came last October when she and her band The Rage won "Entertainer of the Year Award" and herself, "Best Female Vocalist" from the International Bluegrass Music Association.
