SPEED - SPEED FINAL DOME TOUR REAL LIFE
This song is a c/w track from their "Long Way Home" single, and I appreciate the song for being traditional SPEED done well.
What I mean is, on some songs they focus more on the show (the image of the music) than singing it well, which really is often times what they are.
The cover track from their third album, "Carry On my way" is featured on this video as well.

indielondon.co.uk - music - Tom Waits, Real Gone preview
REAL Gone is the unpredictable follow-up to the atmospheric and conceptual Alice and Blood Money, the two acclaimed albums Tom Waits released simultaneously in the spring of 2002.
With Real Gone, he has blended the surreal absurdist qualities of the Eighties for the up-tempo songs, but the lyrics are more compact and conform more to the irregular meter of the blues or hollers.
The songs on Real Gone are some of the longest, groove-laden Waits has ever recorded.

 Gone: Information From Answers.com
They recorded their first album, Let's Get Real, Real Gone For A Change, in late 1985 and released it in 1986 on Ginn's SST Records label.
Gone was a three-piece punk-based instrumental band, originally formed as a side project by Black Flag guitarist Greg Ginn in late 1985.
Another band called "Gone" exists, and their two albums have mistakenly been combined with the original band's on the AllMusic.com database.

indielondon.co.uk - music - Tom Waits, Real Gone
Real Gone is a celebration of Waits' musical virtuosity and it's well worth indulging in.
THE deep-throated vocal chords of actor-musician, Tom Waits, are stretched to new limits for Real Gone, an epic, expansive and totally wonderful long-player that has to rate as one of the artist's most ambitious recording projects to date.
Indeed, as strong as the musical arrangements are, much of the fun in listening to Real Gone is hearing how the words unfold, and how they wrap you up in their tales.

BBC - Classic Rock/Pop Review - Tom Waits, Real Gone
Real Gone is by no means easy listening but it becomes more rewarding with each listen.
But it seems that this is actually quite a departure...What marks Real Gone as a change of direction for Tom are two things: One is his decision to excise any use of piano or keyboards from the recording process.
"Real Gone" is something that I cannot stop listening to.

Tom Waits: Real Gone - PopMatters Music Review
Real Gone has its fair share of ballads, but is noticeably devoid of Waits' piano songs ("grand weepers", as he named them).
Waits recorded hours of these vocal rhythm beds in preparation for Real Gone, using their maniacal foundation for the composition of songs (as always, with his co-creator and wife Kathleen Brennan).
Percussion clanks and scrapes like a ruckus in a submarine's bowels, guitars and turntables (yes, turntables) squeal like midnight transmissions from pirate radio, chairs squeak and banjos hypothesize.

 Tennistrainer Commentary Real Satellite Tour
At best the 20 somethings on the Satellite Tour are having their tennis fling functioning in the "just want to see if I have what it takes, so as to have no regrets" mode.
But, for me personally, I don't want to hear any whining from American 20 somethings when they don't make it, because they ultimately chose their own fate by not starting on the tour when they were younger.
Europe started to dominate in the 80's and has never looked back.

Waits' 'Real Gone' Arrives This Fall
"Real Gone" will be the follow-up to the simultaneously released 2002 concept albums "Blood Money" and "Alice." Those sets, which stemmed from previous theatrical collaborations with Robert Wilson, debuted at No. 32 and No. 33 on The Billboard 200, respectively.
As previously reported, the 15-track disc was written and produced by Waits and his wife/longtime collaborator Kathleen Brennan and recorded in an old Mississippi schoolhouse.
The inimitable artist's "Real Gone" will be released Oct. 5 through Epitaph's Anti- Records label.

Stone Pony London: The Tour Has Gone On Too Long
I agree that the tour has gone on too long, but to argue that by saying the message has been lost from dumping a couple of the Rising songs is banal.
What would really please me would be for them to stop the tour and go record an album - not a live one or a compilation but a real proper one.
I really fear that this tour is becoming the bands pension scheme - one last big push to reap in the millions allowing everyone who wants to retire.

Tom Waits: Real Gone: Pitchfork Review
Real Gone, like most of Tom Waits' records, is teeming with all kinds of mysterious noises: clangs and spits, faceless hollers, squawks, irrational toots, not-quite-human coughs, vicious bangs, apologetic whispers.
Wife and longtime collaborator Kathleen Brennan (who co-wrote and co-produced Real Gone, along with Waits' last eleven records), has sagely proclaimed that all Tom Waits' songs can be easily slapped into one of two categories: Grim Reapers and Grand Weepers.
And there is always a place that Tom Waits thinks it would be best for them to avoid.

Adrian's Album Reviews : Tom Waits
Tom really gets into the character of the song, a song sounding like a sixty year old woman - a woman who used to be a hooker in her younger days - lamenting the lack of 'a good man'.
The feel of each song is what really matters, mixed with a line or two of lyrics (usually the chorus - while the majority of the vere lyrics are relatively inconsequential).
Well, on 'Somewhere' he sings, I mean really sings, and that's nice, but this is just a little interlude for the album.

Punknews.org Tom Waits - Real Gone
The most conspicuous aspect of this album is the absence of one instrument: the piano.
Yes, Real Gone comes nowhere ner the exellance of Alice and Blood Money but it is still a good album.
like bone machine, real gone is difficult to listen to--only real gone can move in the painful category.

Real Gone Kids Record Mirror October 1988
They're too classy to be caught up in the famous-for-five- minutes school, they write good songs and they've got an accomplished sound on which to base their assault on the top end of the charts both here and in the States.
It's a harder affair than its predecessor, a result, no doubt, of all the touring the band have done since the beginning of 1987.
But with all the promotion we do for the singles and recording new B-sides, it just takes a long time to do properly." 'Real Gone Kid' is a more optimistic single than we're used to from Deacon Blue.

 westcoastmusic: Tom Waits: Real Gone
Meanwhile, initial press reaction for Tom Waits "Real Gone" album is nothing but shining: Entertainment Weekly included the album in its "25 Most Anticipated Albums of the Fall," while Richard Cromelin noted in his Sunday "Calendar" feature in the Los Angeles Times: "Real Gone...
These shows will all come on the heels of Waits' eagerly anticipated 20th album, "Real Gone," due out October 5 (Epitaph Records) and features musicians from the recording: Larry Taylor on bass, Marc Ribot on guitar and Brain on drums/percussion.

They are re-launching their real estate portal and have listings data from some markets.
They also effectively communicated that their own site is more compelling because it's one of the few places the tours can be viewed.
They funnel money into poor listing enhancement products, when they should be wrestling with how to rollout similar consumer offers to what LT, HV and HG in a way that's acceptable to their agents.

 Real Steel - On Tour
This year was possibly Real Steel's finest coming away with 2nd place (to Ebony) in the 'band on the road' competition, the float looked brilliant and the band sounded even better!
They played excellently all the way round the three mile route and kept a following crowd enthralled with their musical prowess.
I did get some funny looks as I tried to take a car wheel(obviously a highly tuned percussion instrument) through customs but hey we are Real Steel after all!

 Pitchfork: Daily Music News
Of the album's sound, Anti's website stated that "Real Gone is a place, a time beyond reach: a lost mind, a renegade leader, war love sublime, love lost, death, desire, escape.
The forthcoming new album from Tom Waits, Real Gone, now has a release date: October 4th.
According to the folks at Waits' label, Anti, the record will replace the legendary songwriter's piano with his own brand of vocal percussion.

nthposition online magazine: Real gone, by Tom Waits
Having spent most of the Nineties "stuck in traffic", or so he once claimed, Tom Waits has greeted the new century with a furious burst of creativity, with four albums in as many years.
While this album might not have such classic tunes as Raindogs, say, it still has many moments of rare beauty, but off-beat enough that there's no chance of Rod Stewart massacring any of these songs.

TOBY LIGHTMAN: Another tour almost gone..
It is so hard to go on these tours and meet some great friends, like Josh Kelly, Edwin McCain and now Marc's band, and then have to leave them.

HoustonChronicle.com - Tom Waits, 'Real Gone'
Vocal tricks and loops and a smidgen of turntabling make Real Gone a blues record from some DJ's candlelit underworld, where Charley Patton's bones have been exhumed and coerced onto the dance floor to shake a leg.
Waits has always chosen guitarists well, and reuniting with the fabulous Marc Ribot (who played on Waits' classic 1985 album Rain Dogs) was inspired, especially with the dirty Havana groove he digs around Waits' frenzied, menacing vocal on Hoist That Rag.
By now, most folks have cast their lot with or against the ol' growl.

[fmSound] Reviews - The Unsatisfied "Real Gone Pale Face"
Hailing from Chattanooga, Tennessee, the Unsatisfied is one part heavy rock and one part punk with a dash of both Goth and blues added for extra spiciness.
In other words, don’t try to take their debut album Real Gone Pale Face on an empty stomach.
Led by the raucous Eric Scealf, the rest of the band—Johnny Stockman, David Schenk and Damien Lawless—has gained themselves quite a following in their native area as well as the label of “danger rock,” being compared to the likes of the Doors and the Misfits.

Jeffrey Overstreet on "Tom Waits' "Real Gone"
Waits fans thought that Bone Machine was as far out on the fringes of musical madness that this mad hatter would ever venture.
With Real Gone, he takes the platform in a year of idealistic campaign language and proceeds to preach hellfire and brimstone, pointing to those neglected passages of national history that expose what goes on in the dark alleys of the land of the free.
These songs stir up the dust and uncover the evidence of our recent wrongs, things we’d like to pretend are ancient history.

The Music Box: Tom Waits - Real Gone (Album Review)
The Music Box: Tom Waits - Real Gone (Album Review)
For certain, Waits hasn’t tempered his style one bit, and if anything, he is now making music that is even more difficult to embrace.
With its politically-charged lyrics and disorienting grooves, Real Gone may appear, at first glance, to be an insurmountable obstacle, but Waits’ defiance of familiar patterns is refreshing, and his arrangements ultimately become both alluring and rewarding, making the collection another gem in his already formidable canon.

 Real Gone
Furthering his unwavering commitment to the art of noise, Tom Waits creates structure from unlikely grunts and coughed clatter on "Real Gone," minimizing the role of instrumental melodies.
Through verses and choruses written with hymeneal collaborator Kathleen Brennan, his guttural growl is alternately pushed to its breaking point ("Hoist That Rag") and reduced to a mournful whimper ("How's It Gonna End"); as a stammering beat box, it churns out rhythmic percussive blasts worthy of a backfiring jalopy or industrial sweatshop.
