 Fanzine - Open Encyclopedia
The Punk explosion in the United Kingdom led to a massive upsurge of interest in fanzines as an alternative to the mainstream media that was felt to be too exploitative, capitalist, and essentially uninterested in the Punk Movement and the concerns of disaffected youth.
The first and perhaps still best known UK 'punkzine' was Sniffin' Glue, produced by Deptford punk fan Mark Perry, which ran for 12 issues between 1976 to 1977.

Punk zine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A punk zine (or punkzine) is a fanzine devoted to punk rock music, bands, or the DIY punk philosophy.
The term punkzine was possibly coined amongst anarcho-punk circles, specifically by writers who objected to the connotations of the word fanzine, believing the first part of the word to imply the slavish following of pop groups, and unquestioning acceptance of celebrity culture.
However, the magazine never applied this term to itself, and indeed it is thought that it did not come into use until the early 1980s.

 Razorcake Contributors: Gizz
I began my writing "career" with a column in Censor This Punkzine in late-1997 and then started writing live and CD reviews for Flipside in mid-1998 all with the help and advice of ShitEd, a neighboring local "old punk" in my hometown of Sunland, CA.
The only reason I began writing was because I knew ShitEd, Todd, Katz, Donofthedead, Jimmy Alvarado and my nemesis, Bob Cantu, and they all were having so much fun at the show I was playing or watching from the audience.
