The sound of the Pianet L is delicate and bright while the Pianet C sounds dark and sonorous.
The Hohner Pianet L is a small precise home instrument that with it's charachteristic bright sound suits 'swing' just as well as 'sweet'(!!).
In the following "Kleine Studie"(small studio) from "Album für die Jugend" (Album for the youth) - also by Schumann - is the romantic expression fusioned with an impressionistic harp sound.

This electric piano was the debut of the Pianet (1962) built by Hohner.
As with most of the electromechanical pianos of its time, it sounds best when played hard, which isn't hard to do because of its lightweightedness.

Pianet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Early Pianets were used on a number of hit recordings from the 1960s and 1970s, including She's Not There by The Zombies, Louie, Louie by The Kingsmen, I Am The Walrus by The Beatles and Joy to the World by Three Dog Night.
This had no legs, being designed to sit atop an organ or acoustic piano.
The Pianet soon found popularity with popular music groups of the 1960s, leading Hohner to produce the Combo model, designed for the performing musician in mind.

I've heard recordings and samples of the Pianet T that didn't impress me at all.
The lows are quite clunky and metallic, the mids are like other electric pianos but with almost more of a jazz guitar touch and the highs get almost vibraphone-like.
Tony Banks used to use it a lot on those records and it's just sounds amaing used in that context.

Although featured prominently in a number of classic rock songs by The Beatles, The Zombies and others, the Hohner Pianet remains a lesser-known instrument, its sound having often been mistakenly attributed to the Wurlitzer.

Led Zeppelin made this sound famous, employing it in a number of hits.

Instead, look for a Voce "Electric Piano" midi module, which absolutely *nails* the Pianet (both A and T series) as well as the Clavinet, several Rhodes, an absolutely stunning Wurlitzer 140, and some other nifty stuff.
Everyone who has ever *owned* any of the pianos covered in that module is knocked out by it when they try one.
It's a cool sound, true, but there are *no* parts for 'em, and, due to the way the action is constructed, there is no provision for a sustain pedal, nor can there be.

The sound was more mellow than that of its predecessors, more Rhodes-like in fact, and better suited to the music of the time.
Sonically the difference was equally subtle, the Cembalet having a rounder, more metallic sound while the Pianet had a more reedy sound with a distinctive Wurlitzer-like "bark" when played hard.
Musicians from Manfred Mann to the Stranglers used the Hohner Cembalet, although it proved less popular than its companion model, the Pianet.

The archetypal clavinet sound can be heard on Stevie Wonder's track "Superstition," from Talking Book.
The final E7 model saw the culmination of several engineering improvements to make the instrument more suitable for use in live amplfied rock music, where its use had become commonplace.
Other Hohner keyboard products, the Cembalet and Pianet, work by different principles (hammers strike mechanical reeds), and are not like the Clavinet at all.

That said, it was a good little electric piano that found favour with Tony Banks (Genesis) and Chick Corea in the early days of their careers (Banks used one on 'Nursery Crime' and 'Foxtrot' but for some reason replaced it with the all electronic RMI ElectraPiano for the later Genesis albums).
Several Pianet models were manufactured but probably the most famous was the Pianet T which is featured in Nostalgia.
It used similar principles too - each key had a sticky rubber pad that 'plucked' a tine and this was amplified using an electro-magnetic pickup and the signal was then fed to a single, mono output.
