 VH1.com : Peter Noone : Biography
The Tremblers ensemble, released on Beach Boy Bruce Johnstone's CBS distributed label, was a blending of the Herman's Hermits pop with the new wave edge of Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson.
Peter Noone has created a model which other '60s, '70s, '80s, and '90s stars would be wise to study and follow.
A Noone solo album from the day, One of the Glory Boys, featured covers of material by Sutherland Brothers & Quiver, as well as the Spiral Starecase and was the Tremblers in reverse, it took the sound of the "new wave" and brought it back to a more fully developed pop attitude.

Peter Hammill, vocal, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano; with Hugh Banton, organ, bass; David Jackson, sax, flute; Guy Evans, drums
About two-thirds of it is Hammill unaccompanied, performing with guitar or piano.
I prefer the tracks with full band accompaniment, for when Hammill performs alone, solo guitar or piano is instrumentation too sparing to conceal his overly abrasive vocals singing lyrics drowning in angst.

 Peter Hammill - Incoherence
Peter Hammill is known to many as an erudite man, thinking a little -or a lot even- further than your basic songwriter does.
On this album Hammill brought in both Jackson and Gordon, creating more of a band feel -musically- than he did on previous albums.
As much as I like Hammill's talent for making slow songs, this album shows that there is a lot of strength in his strong songs.

 Brotzmann
Brotzmann came to greater prominence in the United States in the late 80s, as Last Exit--with bassist Bill Laswell, drummer Ronald Shannon Jackson, and late guitarist Sonny Sharrock--pioneered a blend of heavy metal and free jazz and earned a reputation as an intense, hardworking, if unlucky, live band.
Almost 30 years later, Brotzmann paid homage to Ayler's influence on the Die Like a Dog quartet's 1994 debut on the German FMP label, quoting Ayler's tunes but mostly referencing his unfettered musical approach, showing what it had become in the hothouse of jazz's never-ending improvisational dialog between players.
Yet on some pieces, like the "Encore" from last year's live CD "From Valley to Valley" on Eremite Records, Brotzmann's sax eruptions open up gradually to more lyrical phrases--a rare enough thing for him that critics have pointed it out.

Hammill is alone except for Graham Smith (violin) and David Jackson (Sax) on few songs.
Hammill's guitars are more prominent in the mix, but his voice seems to have mellowed somewhat from the overwrought intensity of efforts from a few years ago.
The music on this work is more lush due to a more prominent keyboard presence, and Hammill's vocals seem to have mellowed a good deal, but the well arranged music and profound lyrical style remain.

Frankly it's a miracle this ever surfaced on DVD at all, so Jackson fans and strange movie addicts would be well advised to pounce on it while they can.
After helming the hysterical, zero budget alien gorefest Bad Taste, Jackson turned his satirical eye to cozy family puppet variety shows with Meet the Feebles, a shocking and often uproarious film performed entirely by puppets.

PETER HAMMILL Fireships reviews and MP3
— The intimate side of Peter Hammill: most of the raucous elements of his sound are kept away on this one: only romantic yet uncanny atmospheric, melodic songs, with saxophone (D. Jackson), violin and orchestral layers.
However, some of the songs here are easily as good as anything Hammill's written previously- 'Curtains' is a bittersweet and elegiac ode to the passage of time much like 'Autumn' from his classic 'Over' album from 1977.
However, it's an excellent illustration of Hammill's songwriting craft, and will be enjoyed by many Hammill fans.
