 Beverly Craven b
Her 1993 album release was produced by Paul Samwell-Smith and although it breifly charted the songs gave an indication that Craven's career was at a crossroads, and that her brand of solo pop belongs to her debut album.
The results of this work bore fruit with her debut album, initially only successful in Europe, which eventually led to a number 3 placing in the UK charts and a hit single of the same title.
She lifted the Best British Newcomer at the 1992 BRIT Awards before giving birth to a daughter in March 1992, and a year later embarked upon UK concert tour.

Jimmy Page - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As a producer, composer and guitarist for the band, he was one of the major driving forces behind the rock sound of that era, with his trademark Gibson Les Paul guitar and Marshall amplification.
John Paul Jones, keyboardist Nicky Hopkins, Jeff Beck and Page recorded "Beck's Bolero" in London's IBC Studios.
The musical potential of the line-up however was scuttled by interpersonal conflicts caused by constant touring and a lack of commercial success.

My first major success at what I felt to be a pop song
Paul Samwell-Smith: I think it was one of the first tracks we did on 24-track, and it got to be a mess.
Paul Samwell-Smith: We did the backing track quite early on, and then he went off and recorded it with Jimmy Cliff.
Paul Samwell-Smith: The guitars are Alun Davies and a guy called Andy Roberts.

Who Does That Song - Question of the Week
Paul Rodgers and Kenny Jones teamed up to form the Law, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1991, which included the song “Laying Down The Law”.
Paul Rodgers continues to tour and record to this day.
Written by Gary DeCarlo, Dale Frashuer and Paul Leka, "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" was released as the A-side and went to number one in late 1969.

 Carly Simon
Produced by Paul Samwell-Smith, and it's far more spacious than Simon's debut: many tunes have no rhythm section at all, with Simon accompanied by acoustic guitar, piano or both.
Paul and Linda McCartney on backing vocals) that sounds totally out of place next to Simon's sharply-detailed love songs and introspection.
The band is Jimmy Ryan (guitar), Paul Glanz (piano), John Ryan (bass), Andy Newmark (drums).

Paul Samwell-Smith (The Yardbirds’ bassist) decided that he had all he could take of this and quit.
So Robert Plant and John Paul Jones wrote most of the songs on the album.
Jimmy Page was working at the sessions for Donovan's 'Hurdy Gurdy Man' and John Paul Jones asked him if he could use a bass player in the new group.

 oncampusuk: Renaissance
Illusion released two albums (the second one produced by Paul Samwell-Smith) and recorded most of a self-financed third before breaking up in 1979.
The band made sure to retain Paul Samwell-Smith as their producer when they were ready to record.
Paul Samwell-Smith got the group a US deal with Elektra Records and a contract outside North America with the Island label.

The Screamin' Mimi Compact Disc "The Yardbirds' Greatest Hits"
STILL I'M SAD (Paul Samwell-Smith, Jim McCarty) The flip side to their English "Evil Hearted You" hit single, this was the strangest track the band had cut up to that time --- a Gregorian chant-inspired number whose total instrumentation consisted of seven massed voices (including their producer, Giorgio Gomelsky), a triangle and an acoustic guitar.
(Paul Samwell-Smith, Keith Relf, Jim McCarty) Recorded at Chess late in 1965, "Shapes of Things" was unlike anything the band had done before.
John Paul Jones, later of Led Zeppelin, was called in to play bass.

Paul Simon - There Goes Rhymin' Simon
is the logical step in Paul Simon's solo recording career, and it is a dazzlingly surefooted one.
found Paul Simon writing and performing with assurance and venturing into soulful and R&B-oriented music.
Paul hits it on the sweet spot with this impressive combination of folk, gospel, rock and R&B that marked his real emergence as a solo artist, following his eponymous first effort.

Eric had some songs which he'd written with Paul McCartney back in the mid-80s, which Paul hadn't used on his albums.
The album was actually made by myself and John Paul Jones, and engineered by Eddie Kramer who went on to work with Hendrix.
John Paul Jones and I had worked together before: both of us did a lot of work for Mickie Most.

New Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock I
Paul and Steve made 5 albums together as a duo between 1992 and 1999.
The band's "modern pop" period began with the enlistment of new lead singer Paul Menel, and the album Nomzamo.
Originally, it was going to consist of three keyboardists and a drummer, but it was soon clear that with the superb musicians Paul Bass on Hammond organ, and Brian Whitcomb on piano, the sound was full and complex.

The Eric Clapton FAQ - Bandmates
In 1966, Paul Samwell Smith left the band, as he was unhappy with the constant touring.
During Clapton's tenure with the band, The Yardbirds' line-up consisted of Keith Relf, Chris Dreja, Paul Samwell Smith, and Jim McCarty.
For several years beginning in 1979, he was a member of the Blues Band with Paul Jones (ex-Manfred Mann) and Tom McGuinness.

Notes: After a 1983 live gig, original Yardbirds’ members Jim McCarty, Chris Dreja, and Paul “Sam” Samwell-Smith got together with vocalist John Fiddler and recorded two albums as Box of Frogs.
As a result of reteaming for a 1983 live date, Chris Dreja, Paul Samwell-Smith, and Jim McCarty ended up reuniting for a project called Box of Frogs.
The two albums (this one and debut album Box of Frogs) have since been paired together on CD reissue.

 Led Zeppelin: IFMTL: Part 1
John Paul Jones's bassline is from the Yardbirds version, where Paul Samwell-Smith was the bass player.
However, the answer to this was provided by John Paul Jones in a 1993 radio interview, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the formation of Zeppelin, where he indicated that the name comes from the jokes about the wife going on holiday.
The string on this song are not real and are actually John Paul Jones on a mellotron, an early synthesizer.

PSF The Thieving Magpie: Jimmy Page's Dubious Recording Legacy
Further, the band boasted one of the loudest rhythm sections in rock and roll, with Paul Samwell-Smith on bass and Jim McCarty on the drum stool.
Comprised of Page, fellow session man John Paul Jones on bass, drummer John Bonham and vocalist Robert Plant, they fulfilled the original band's final contractual obligations, touring Sweden in September 1968.
He and Jimmy Page entered the studio to record a number of tracks along with John Paul Jones and the Who's great drummer, Keith Moon.

Vintage Guitar® magazine : Music Reviews
And while it’s easy to be blinded by the fact that a single band could boast Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page in succession, each band member (bassist Paul Samwell-Smith, drummer Jim McCarty, rhythm guitarist Chris Dreja, and singer-harpist Keith Relf) was essential to the band’s sound and direction.
His influences (including Buddy Guy, Les Paul, and Gene Vincent sideman Cliff Gallup) were about as discernible as T-Bone Walker’s influence was in Albert King’s resultant style.
The quintet was now a quartet, and instead of a bandmate (Paul) producing, hitmaker Mickie Most was brought onboard.

 THE JEFF BECK FANZINE ISSUE#4
On one of those occasions at the May Ball (in May) held at Oxford College it was announced by Paul Samwell-Smith that it was his last appearance with the band.
The Les Paul session that was to feature Beck on one song never happened due to the producer (Phil Ramone) having difficulties with the project.
Page and Relf had worked on the song in the studio, had John Paul Jones play bass and later on Jeff Beck overdubbed his guitar and some spoken words in the song.

 The Yardbirds
Cut-rate producer Mickie Most rushed them through the studio and brought in session players Nicky Hopkins (keyboards) and John Paul Jones (bass), and he also had them record several novelty tunes by hack writers (the enjoyable, galloping title track, a flop single, and the catchy "No Excess Baggage").
The companion two-disc set Blues, Backtracks, And Shapes Of Things is so cruddy it's a ripoff, but if you're a completist, this and either CD version of Little Games will give you a full collection of the Yardbird's original LP, EP, and single releases.
The only Page-era Yardbirds album flopped badly and indeed is mediocre.

Amazon.ca: Music: Buddah And The Chocolate Box (
Reuniting with producer Paul Samwell-Smith, this 1974 collection kicks off with the bracing "Music" and never looks back, managing to be both more adventurous and focused than its predecessor.
It also marked a return to the simpler style of earlier albums.
Though perhaps belied by the preciousness of the hit "Oh, Very Young," there's a muscular determination to songs like "Sun/C79" and "Ready" that serves Stevens well.

Also in the lineup are ex-Yardbird Paul Samwell-Smith, and hit songwriter Graham Gouldman.
I did the whole thing with John Paul Jones who arranged the tracks, played on it and also helped produce it.
The other session people were Phil Dennys, John Paul Jones, and Clem Cattini.

 Andy Roberts Biography
It's because it was in this book (Encyclopedia of British Beat Groups and Solo Artists of the Sixties, compiled by Colin Cross with Paul Kendall and Mick Farren, Omnibus Press, 1980).
Paul was killed outright, Andy and the girl were badly hurt and the van, with all the equipment in it, was wrecked.
Paul was nineteen and had roadied for me in the latter stages of the Liverpool Scene and had stuck through all my being smashed up in the Summer, so I felt very guilty.
