Paul McCartney - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paul McCartney first rose to fame as a bassist, pianist, guitarist, singer and songwriter for The Beatles.
In 1994, McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr reunited to release the first of The Beatles' Anthology albums, consisting of alternative takes and live recordings of Beatles songs; volumes two and three were released the next year.
In the late 1980s McCartney began a songwriting partnership with Elvis Costello, with the resulting songs appearing on several albums by both artists.

Paul collected most of the songs Wings had been playing "live" into his first Capitol album, an album that was also available as a quadraphonic eight track.
Paul's first musical effort after the Beatles' rise to fame was one of composition.
Paul directly attacked their criticism that he wrote a bunch of "silly love songs." The song was so commercial that it hit #1 during the Wings tour, meaning that it was being played everywhere, a slap in the face to Paul's detractors.

McCartney solo numbers are mostly limited to songs from his debut album, which I can only explain by the fact that these songs are really suited for an unplugged performance.
Not that Paul took a lot of pains to release it: basically, it consists of a one-night recording session with his touring band that included guitarist Mick Green among others (the ex-Pirates guy), and all the songs are covers of old rock'n'roll classics.

Most lately, Paul McCartney has released a new album, Flaming Pie, in 1997, and the three singles taken from the album, Young Boy, The World Tonight and good-looking Night, have all had reasonable chart success in the UK.
The odd title of the album derives from Beatles mythology, where a man on a flaming pie appeared to John Lennon and told him the band would be Beetles with an 'A'.
The minor hit single Hope of Deliverance preceded Paul’s next album, Off The Ground, which was released in 1993.
