After Pressure Cookin', Labelle signed with Epic Records and recorded an album, Nightbirds, with Allen Toussaint, a famous record producer.
Labelle (with the b written in small caps, while the spelling LaBelle exclusivelly refers to the stage surname of the group's lead vocalist, Patti LaBelle) was an American RandB/soul group, who successfully melded dance music with funk and glam rock, resulting in such memorable songs as "Lady Marmalade".

 Patti Labelle
In the 1960s, she led the superstar "girl group" Patti LaBelle and the Bluebells; in the '70s, she was the driving force of rock's first all female band, LaBelle; and in the '80s, her talent as a solo artist dominated the music scene.
But it was Nightbirds, LaBelle's first Epic album, that sent the group soaring into the superstar stratosphere, largely on the strength of "Lady Marmalade" ("Voulez-Vous Couchez Avec Moi Ce Soir?") which became a disco anthem of the '70s.
The result was LaBelle, a trio of massive musical power and political sensibility that was consistently ahead of its time.
