 Nasum
In connection with the 42 songs, NASUM recorded 4 cover songs that was released as a bonus 7" in the vinyl version of "inhale/exhale" by Distortion Records in the fall of 1999.
NASUM accepted at once and worked hard the whole fall of 1997 with the songs for the album, and in December NASUM once again entered Soundlab Studios to record what would be the "inhale/exhale" album.
One different detail from the previous recording was that fifteen of the songs included Swedish lyrics, although NASUM used lyrics in their native language on three tracks on the demo.

NASUM are belonging to the good ones, what they prove again with this new album.
I won't be so enthusiastic about "Helvete", but it's recommandable for fans of aformentioned bands mand it remembers me to the days when I used to listen to a lot of this stuff, aside of my beloved slow and heavy sounds.
Although NASUM are mostly fast as a hyperspeed-train, there are some so-called quiet moments, but don't expect to hear catchy melodies.

 Nasum CD Reviews
Nasum is Mieszko A. Talarczyk on guitar and lead vocals, Jesper Liverod on bass, and Anders Jakobson on drums and low vocals.
Nasum spew forth a pit of hate for topics as diverse as government lies, apathy that kills the spirit, and songs about rebellion for the new millennium.
Taking care with the vocals is an extravagance few bands can afford, yet Nasum's attention to detail allows for the dual vocals to actually add to the aural hellstorm that Nasum create.

NASUM (NAW-ZUM) was formed in 1992 by Anders Jakobson (guitar) and Rickard Alriksson (drums/vocals) with the intention of creating true, straight-forward grindcore in the old NAPALM DEATH tradition.
In February of 1995, NASUM entered Unisound Studios, recording 12 new tracks and six re-recordings of tracks from their November 1994 'Domedagen' demo.
This session featured the first NASUM tracks with lyrics in the band's native Swedish.

Nasum will be the hardest band ever on the label, something neither the band nor Burning Heart is concerned about.

 PunkROCKS.net CD Review - Nasum - Human 2.0
On their 2nd album for Relapse, Nasum has produced 25 tracks of blistering ultra-hyper hardcore that rocks the very foundation of punk, metalcore, and grindcore like no band I have ever run across.
With "Human 2.0", Nasum has created the ultimate album for those who want to checkout some extreme music, but are unsure where to start.
While still containing all the essential elements for brutal hardcore/grind fusion; gut-wrenching vocals, dark melodies, and spastic speed, from the very first listen of "Human 2.0" it is immediately noticeable that Nasum are a different breed in the manner in which they write their songs.

nasum was special to me because for every annoying slab of static was a huge hook that laid waste to all other grind bands i've heard (not including napalm death, who were obviously doing this way before nasum).

Sweden's Nasum are one of the best grinding death metal bands in the world.
First of all, the band existed on a really low key basis in the early days since it was only a project on the side to all the other bands we had at that point.
Guitarist Mieszko Talarczyk has purchased first class recording equipment and set up a facility for Nasum and other bands to record as well.

New, or better, expanded is also the line-up of NASUM, their debut “Inhale/Exhale” (1998) was recorded only by the duo Mieszko A. Talarczyk (vocals and guitar) and Anders Jakobson (drums), with their next album “Human 2.0” (2000) and its follow-up “Helvete (2003), they developed into a trio with Jesper Liveröd on bass.
This is not meant musically as NASUM keep clearly true to their music basement.
New is the label of the Swedes, after three great records at the famous brutal label Relapse Records, they changed it over to Burning Heart Records.

With blistering speeds and the fat cut out of every song and to quote Mark Greenway "if you don't pay attention you'll miss the epics", now with that being said it's true with the majority of the songs clocking in at just over a minute, the epics here range from a cool two minute songs.

Out of the current g-core crop, Nasum is my pick due to the musicality, talent and sheer amount of bone-crunching riffs per song here (Is it me or does that guitar have a nice "Sunlight" Sound to it?).
The blast/groove ratio on I/E is not too high, meaning that there are numerous chances for Nasum to open up a good idea, not quash it after 10 seconds (the curse of most grindcore), and for me, that's where my interest peaks on this release.
Production is also a key element, with Dan Swanö's old Unisound recording equipment being put to good use here.

Nasum's basic frame is the simple, mostly three chord, guitar and bass progressions, and virtually unrelenting drumming, which is the essence of grindcore.

The refreshing thing about Nasum is that they do not settle for typical grindcorisms and actually demonstrate more songwriting ability than any ten blast beat oriented, one guitar chord wonders.
Their sound incorporates a lot of old school thrash, death metal and of course, grindcore elements, but they have the ability to write more than just basic riffs to keep up with the drummer.

What’s less arguable is that Nasum are one of the few grind bands I can actually tolerate (Pig Destroyer, Squash Bowels, Rotten Sound and Morgue being some of the others), but I’ll admit, after the absolutely blistering Human 2.0, the follow up Helvete, while a good album, didn’t sit with me so well.
Well now with a new label, it seems Nasum are back proper, and while there is still some moment of controlled grooving, almost harmonic vitriol on Shift, they seem less obtuse and fit in better with the album as a whole.
Thankfully, growth of the band hasn’t hindered their musical style, as Nasum are still Nasum, and even with the odd injection of Wolverine Blues like girth (“Wrath”, “The Smallest Man”, “Fight Terror With Terror”, “Darkness Falls”), Shift is still viciously scathing and unrelenting.

 CoC : Nasum - Helvete : Review
What ultimately makes _Helvete_ such a roaring triumph is that Nasum have managed to avoid the dreaded third album syndrome, which by all accounts would have been very easy for them to fall into, seeing as how their last two albums are widely regarded as classics.
The lads even manage to throw in a few surprises along the course of the twenty-two musical beatdowns that comprise the disc's entirety -- witness the ingenious melodic break that drives "Living Next Door to Malice" or the raised-fist anthem that forms the foundation of "I Hate People" for proof.
Indeed with a massive underground following, as well as accolades heaped upon them from sources as seemingly outlandish as Amen's Casey Chaos, it is somewhat surprising that their third full-length album is released to relatively little pre-emptive exposure.

The Finnish band's latest release on Relapse Records, 'Helvete', cements their position as one of the top bands in their genre with a collection of brutal anthems intended to wake the listener up and get them to think about what's going on in the world.
While many grindcore bands today spin tales of zombies and gore, Nasum (Anders - drums and vocals, Mieszko - guitar and lead vocals, Jesper - bass, and Urban Skytt - guitar) prefer to follow the path of bands like Napalm Death with a more thoughtful, political approach to their lyrics.
