Record label - encyclopedia article about Record label.
's Righteous Babe Records Righteous Babe Records is the independent music label created by punk-edged folksinger Ani DiFranco in 1990 to release her own songs in lieu of being beholden to the whims and constraints of any mainstream record company.
The name derives from the paper label at the center of a gramophone record A gramophone record, (also phonograph record - often simply record) is an analog sound recording medium: a flat disc rotating at a constant angular velocity, with inscribed spiral grooves in which a stylus or needle rides.
Often the record label's decisions are correct ones from a commercial perspective, but this typically frustrates the artist who feels that their artwork is being destroyed.

What they produced were energetic guitar riffs, seething teenager-in-love lyricism (made by Mac McCaughan’s high tenor vocals), and a moody disposition, shifting from charismatic pop to melancholy rock.
