Then, there is a duet with Richard Thompson on the medley of 16th Century Jewish tunes "Dance Of The Jews / Lebedik un Freylech" which leaves one wondering if there's any style of music Thompson can't play.
That's one of the positive things about this CD, no matter where the material or the instruments are sourced from, the enthusiasm behind the playing just naturally makes it all come together and sound as if it all naturally belongs in the same place.
As far as other instrumentation is concerned, a good example is "The Pickpocket's Mazurka / Mazurka Berserker" (again, Kirkpatrick originals) featuring Hijaz Mustapha on the Vietnamese lap steel and bouzouki, going head-to-head with the button accordion, and combining only too well.
