| Â | Stereolab Album Reviews |
 | | Mars Audiac Quintet (Elektra ’94) Rating: A- This album is more consistently melodic but also more homogenous and less strikingly immediate and adventurous than its often-brilliant (if cumbersomely titled) predecessor. | | | However, though almost all of these songs are extremely pleasurable, it must be said that few of them really stand out from one another (another less desirable band trademark), and that at 67 long minutes Mars Audiac Quintet starts to seem like more of the same after awhile. | | | Airy “ba ba ba” or “la la la” harmonies (a band trademark) demonstrate a decidedly high pop quotient this time out that belies the band’s experimental reputation, though their largely undecipherable vocals (some of which are sung in French, another band trademark) all but ensure that the band will never gain any serious airplay. |

| Â | Las Vegas Mercury: Replay: Stereolab, Mars Audiac Quintet, 19... |
 | | Mars Audiac Quintet came from the analog minds of Tim Ganes and Nico-esque chanteuse Laetitia Sadier, and the album purrs on its own. | | | MAQ is one of those albums with gloriously recognizable opening strains ("Three-Dee Melodie") and easy-to-learn rules of engagement. | | | For all of the density, there's still a modest space taken up by the band, and it's one that it decorates impeccably. |

 | | Mars Audiac Quintet, the groop's third full-length, is the album which earned them the rank of the "Moog Terrorists". | | | i bought Mars Audiac Quintet several years back when it came out after I heard the song Ping Pong, and it is the only album of theirs that i own currently. | | | Anyways, i plan on buying the other albums, but as for Mars Audiac Quintet, I dont think i'll ever grow tired of it! |

| Â | [Adrian's Album Reviews : Stereolab |
 | | This is a natural sounding record, without the overproduction of certain albums immediately previous to it. | | | Following the successful singles from 'Mars Audiac Quintet' and the acclaimed 'Emperor Tomato Ketchup' they put out this little set of songs, something very difficult to initially get into - a set of songs sprawling yet still containing 'a sound', but not a sound likely to please fans of 'French Disko' or 'Wow And Flutter'. | | | It's a consistent album and also a throwback to the sound of Stereolab circa 'Mars Audiac Quintet', almost. |

 | | Highlights include the entire 1995 EP Music For The Amorphous Body Study Centre, "Golden Atoms," an outtake from Emperor Tomato Ketchup, and "Klang Tone," an outtake from Mars Audiac Quintet. | | | Those who were disappointed by the drum 'n' bass foolery of the bubbling Dots and Loops will be comforted by the familiar driving hypnotic drone-chuggers they were always known for. |
