Goodier was a hit with listeners on the "Liz and Mark" weekend breakfast show, and he quickly progressed to a teatime slot.
Goodier went on to present two separate charts on leaving Radio 1 - the Emap-produced Smash Hits Chart, which is heard on many commercial radio stations at the same time as Radio 1's own chart; and the Classical Chart for Classic FM.
He is much in demand as a voiceover artist for adverts which promote new CDs, and is a frequent stand-in on BBC Radio 2 when regular presenters are on leave.

Waves is inconsistent musically, and lacks a flow an LP should contain, yet it is understandable as this is a Live CD.
After the first ten tracks or so, the LP takes a strange twist towards late 60's guitars and weak percussion filled songs from the Carnival of Light and Tarantula albums.

This time there was a whole new sound to the Top 40 (coinciding with Radio 1 dropping its sung jingles) which immediately made the previous theme sound incredibly dated.

Two are for DJ Mark Goodier [+], lovely versions of "Severed Lips" and "Thumb." The remaining number, for Goodier's more famous counterpart, John Peel [+], is a fine take on "Get Me" that adds some electric guitar lines to the proceedings here and there.
The radio session takes are British recordings, all but one of which are delivered in really nice solo acoustic versions that emphasize each of the songs' elements of gentle down-beat vibes.
The remaining track on the disc is an interesting nod to the past: "Kracked." Originally recorded for You're Living All Over Me and here captured in an appropriately amped-up and thrashed-out live version, the song's shift between stripped-down riffing and full-on splurge still sounds darn cool.
