 Major and Minor Triads
The intervals of the octave, the perfect fifth and the major third are rooted intervals.
There are two types of chord which form the fundamental building blocks of harmonic music.
On a piano keyboard this triad appears to contain two major thirds and a minor sixth - all of which are consonant, but in actuality the interval between the top and bottom tones is not the consonant minor sixth but the dissonant augmented fifth.

See also Mathematics of the Western music scale.
The progression IV-V-I, (subdominant, dominant, tonic) is by far the most common chord progression in all of music, and can be found in an astonishingly wide variety of styles, forms, and genres.
The strongest form of motion has root movement by fifth, which is the characteristic sound used as finality in most music of the baroque and classical periods, and is also exploited to modulate a piece of music into a different key.

 Chord Naming
Also, you need to understand how to name intervals, which can be found in any elementary music theory book.
I can do the same thing for all seven modes that can be generated from the C major scale.
If you are asked to join an avant-garde jazz band, however, forget everything I said.

 Lesson 21: Triad Inversions
Remember, we use upper-case Roman numerals to indicate major and augmented triads, and lower-case letters to indicate minor and diminished.
It's a COMPLETE COURSE in music rudiments, perfect for individual, self-directed use, or in the classroom.
All of the triads of a C-major scale would be labeled like this:

 Harp Spectrum
Many harpists are not familiar with fake book notation.
First of all, there are huge fake books available from major publishers which include from 600 to 1,200 tunes in a price range from $25 to $35 per volume, or approximately $0.03 per title.
Not every tune is wonderful, but hundreds are.

 Major chord
I frequently play non traditional music, and with players of various instruments.
But that chord is the 7th chord in a harmonized B scale so...
The major chord may be considered the building block of tonal music and the common practice period.

The musical pitches rendered above in orange show those pitches that are selected.
This example shows a primary 1-3-5 triad (also known as a “major triad”;) based on B. The connectors that burst-out from the B show its closest tonal neighbors.

 Chunk#8 of EXTRATERRESTRIAL ENCYCLOPEDIA
It started with an A-major triad, only a vibrations [sic] off concert pitch.
It sounded like a crazy bird imitation, but the Cygnans seemed to accept it.
He had to substitute an arpeggiated chord for the triad, then make do with just the top note of the double glissando.
