Manowar (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The band\\\'s \\\"Spectacle of Might\\\" tour of Great Britain is subject to claims that the loudness of one of the band\\\'s performances was measured at 129.5 decibels.
According to Worldwide Web Warriors (the dedicated internet fanbase of Manowar), the band is said to be in studio right now; recording their tenth studio album, which is expected to be released in 2006.
In 1984, Manowar found themselves in the book \\\'\\\'Guinness World Records\\\'\\\' as the \\\"loudest band in the world,\\\" following the release, and during the supporting tour, of their fourth album \\\'\\\'Sign of the Hammer\\\'\\\'.

 Akira
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the band Loudness, they are one of the leaders in Japanese hard rock/heavy metal.
Loudness was formed by Akira Takasaki and Munetaka Higuchi after their previous band (Lazy) was being encouraged to become too pop-oriented.
(several of the early Lazy albums have been re-released on CD, and are reportedly quite good.) The band followed in the footsteps of Bow Wow (the first Japanese metal band ever?) and proceeded to have a profound influence on practically every Japanese metal band of the 80's.

 BNR Metal Pages -- Loudness
Loudness was formed by Akira Takasaki and Munetaka Higuchi, the duo leaving their previous band (Lazy, often described as a pop-rock band though apparently some of their material is quite accomplished) to explore a heavier style of music.
The band followed in the footsteps of Bow Wow (the first Japanese metal band ever?) and proceeded to have a profound influence on practically every Japanese metal band of the 80's.
During the 90's the lineup and style continued to shift, but in 2001 the original lineup was back together, and they are still going strong, now one of the more prolific metal bands ever.

 Rough Edge: Keel CD Reviews
The band's keep-it-simple-but-keep-it-full-of-testosterone approach worked pretty well when the band was going balls-out, but when they slowed down to ballad speed, they seemed to lose the impact that power and loudness gave them otherwise.
The live songs on the CD are, with one exception, the kind of songs you want to hear on a live album.
Keel's over-the-top conflagration of every cliché in the hard rock formula books made for some interesting listening way back when.

 Loudness
It has been more than 18 years since the Japanese heavy metal band Loudness played the U.S., and its return to New York on Sunday commemorated the band's 25th anniversary with its original lineup.
Head-banging began in earnest as Loudness ripped into "Crazy Nights." Time has been kind to the music, even if it has taken its toll on the band.
The group emerged from the wings of the stage at B.B. King's bowing and waving to the cheering crowd and proceeded to rock the room with a 90-minute show (which was filmed for a DVD) of the best of the band's catalog.

 [Metal-Temple.com] Saxon / Chinchilla - Gagarin 205, Athens (GR) (31/10/2004) (Report)
The band’s new drummer, renowned Heavy Metal "killing machine" Jorg Michael (ex-Stratovarius, ex-Running Wild etc) was a human drum machine throughout the entire concert giving all songs the Heavy Metal loudness needed in order to blow the fans away (his double bass drumming rules).
The band did what it knows best for almost 2.5 hours, leading the crowd to a pleasant exhaustion (I know I was dead meat after the show had ended), taking all of us on a headbanging journey through the band’s loaded discography.
Saxon is and always has been (for 25 years already) an undoubtedly "must see" Heavy Metal band, a steady value when it comes to live performances.

No Life 'til Metal - CD Gallery - Loudness
While Loudness have released their share of pop metal songs, this song is just uncharacteristic of the band.
First of all, I have to say this is one of the coolest album covers in the Loudness discography.
Regardless of the situation, "Jealousy" is much heavier than anything the band had done on "Hurricane Eyes" and is a bit more like the Judas Priest inspired metal of "Thunder in the East." "Long Distance Love" is the most commercial of the tracks with a sing-along chorus, "Can't stop this Long Dis-tance love baby.

Note that the low frequency bands of A and AB are both considered to be softer than the high frequency energy of band E In fact, band A is only two-thirds the loudness of band E. This fact in itself should dismiss loudness as the cause of the low frequency SR bands localization dominance.
They begin with a summary of the “music track” results, followed by a plot for each individual SR band that was tested with the music track.
With the results disclosed, one might argue that a “low frequency” band from 20-800 Hz (band A) is not a fair comparison versus a “high frequency” band from 12-20 kHz (band E).

BNR Metal Pages -- Bow Wow
Though their earlier material was decidely hard rock and a shade poppy at times, they were unquestionably a prime influence on Loudness and the other Japanese bands that would emerge in the eighties, and guitarist Kyoji Yamamoto was quite an accomplished heavy rock guitarist.
The band broke up in the early nineties, but in 1995 Kyoji Yamamoto put together a new version of the band, now back as Bow Wow, and had recorded as late as 2002.
The oldest of all Japanese metal bands, Bow Wow formed in 1975 and by the early eighties had become a popular band in their home country, though they were virtually unknown elsewhere.

Takasaki is now the only original member of the band remaining, and Loudness has lost almost all of its progressive instinct and modern flavor.
The band got it's start in 1980 when guitarist Akira Takasaki invited singer Minoru Niihara to collaborate with him on a solo project.
Huge in sound, progressive in songwriting, and relentless on the attack, Disillusion was the complete work the band had been looking for.

Storm's crisp, clear voice can move from a sweet melody to an emotion-filled scream, and she puts it to good use on "Ima Yora," a fully charged rocker that begins with Storm conspiratorially whispering, "She's a whore/And she is evil to the core/She's a whore/That's what she is/If that is what you think about her."

Loudness enjoyed the best sales of any of the Japanese metal bands, but some critics felt that the band could never break big with a non-native English speaker on vocals.
Loudness signed to Atlantic Records, released an English version of 1984’s Disillusion, and were soon touring all over the world.
At the time it was still a novel concept, as while heavy metal had been quite popular since the late 60’s, the Japanese metal scene was almost entirely cover bands, with the areas near US military bases being frequent breeding grounds.

When this CD came out in 1991, Loudness had a non-Japanese lead singer, Mike Vescera, and was going for a slick sound that was sort of Mötley Crüe meets Ratt meets Warlock.
The band, however, never received much attention in the U.S., and On the Prowl was far from the commercial breakthrough the headbangers were hoping for.
In the 1980s, Loudness was one of the top heavy metal units in Japan, which was an extremely strong market for metal and hard rock.
