 Filmtracks: Legend (Jerry Goldsmith)
The only detraction from the Legend score is the crashing glissando, or wobbly electronic pulse that jabs at the listener several times near the beginning of the score as dark events are suddenly foreshadowed in the film.
Overall, Legend was a fascinatingly doomed project from which an excellent Goldsmith score has emerged and lived on, apart from its disgraced film.
On album, all of the Legend music is widely available.

It may seem odd that I added the latter part of that title as a description, but what many people do not know is that the music we hear on the American version of the film, "Legend," starring Tom Cruise and Tim Curry, is not the original music created for this film.
Grab ahold of this movie soundtrack today for a magical listen that will fuel your imagination, and very possibly spark many new epic poems and stories in the minds of all who hear it!
Magical music that tells a story almost as much as does the movie it accompanies.

The Pink Floyd HyperBase - your main source for Roger Waters & Pink Floyd
Some songs in the film are sligthly different recordings than the ones from the soundtrack release.
The recordings was made for the legendary Radio One show hosted by John Peel in 1970.
The song was the first 7" single from the record, however the track never made the original album.

Film Music Recordings Reviews - August 1998 GOLDSMITH Legend
The National Philharmonic Orchestra's credentials need no questioning (they made all the Classic Film Scores recordings under the baton of Charles Gerhardt for RCA) and their performance here is first class This CD was made up from the original sessions tapes that were mercifully kept by the recording engineer, Mike Ross-Trevor.
It seems incredible that for its American release the producers wanted to ditch this lovely music for a mor pop-orientated score

LEGEND OF GODZILLA (CDS - 15) (Single)
Both recordings were originally released on Inoue's 1983 LP of Ifukube monster themes, titled GODZILLA LEGEND.
The LP was later radically overhauled and remixed, with many additional tracks, for a 1986 CD release called GODZILLA LEGEND CHRONOLOGY 1 (K32X-7032).
Track 1, a re-recorded version of the main title from the first Godzilla film, was used on the BIOLLANTE soundtrack, but was originally taken from the 1986 album OSTINATO (K32X-7037/KICA-2212), which featured new recordings of some of Akira Ifukube's classic monster soundtrack themes.

 Soundtrack Album: Casino
I didn't notice Robbie's name amongst the credits when I saw the film (although I might have missed it) but the soundtrack CD bears the legend "Soundtrack Album produced by Robbie Robertson" and there is a photo of Robbie with Scorcese in the booklet.
Of greatest interest to Band fans is Clarence "Frogman" Henry's original version of "Ain't Got No Home", which the Band covered on Moondog Matinee, of course.

 Fist of Legend
Overall, Fist of Legend is an excellent film, one that matches Bruce Lee's original in style and pace.
Fist of Legend is more than a remake of the classic Bruce Lee film Fist of Fury, it is also an homage to the great kung fu master.
Apart from noticing the obvious similarities and differences between Fist of Fury and Fist of Legend, what suddenly comes to mind when viewing this film is that this is Jet Li's greatest film (besides Once Upon a Time in China).

 Dreambook - Ridley Scott's 'Legend'
Legend was the most beautiful film I have ever come across, and I don't think any other movie will ever inspire my dreamz like this one has.
Legend is one of my all time favorite fantasy movies.
Legend is my absolute favorite movie of all time.

DREAM IN THE DREAM WITH ME
With their last album, Air soundtracked the film, The Virgin Sucides, a tale of suburban angst and ennui in the 70s; with this new album, 10,000Hz Legend, they've created the soundtrack for the 21st century.
If one were granted access into the compound in which the two blurred gentlemen appear, they'd hear 10,000Hz Legend wafting through the speakers -- it's space age bachelor music (as opposed to the -- capitals and italics important -- Space Age Bachelor Pad Music of their debut LP Moon Safari).
Many reviewers and "critics," lazy types mostly, have exclaimed that the new album represents a "new direction" for the band (and a number of them hint that it's the "wrong" one.

 FilmJudge - Crossroads (1986)
It may have capitalized on Macchio’s Karate Kid fame when it was released in 1986, and indeed the DVD does say “’The kid’ keeps the legend alive”, but the film does stand the test of time.
The source film is also clean, the High Definition re-mastering smart good enough not to eliminate the desired graininess of certain parts of the film while still ensuring the colour and clarity is better than ever.
The film is very entertaining, particularly Joe Seneca’s outstanding performance as the cantankerous old blues master who reluctantly tutors his young charges in this coming of age road trip movie.

Urban Legend: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Buy dvd online
Comment 2.- Given that the intent of this soundtrack CD was to capitalize on the rock songs from the movie, it's a bit unfortunate that they left out some of the music from the film (most notably some of those cool heavy metal songs that 'Tash was listening to.).
Comment 1.- I thought that the "Urban Legend" soundtrack was as good as the movie(which I absolutely loved). It is one of the best cd's I ever bought.

 Crossroads (1986)
The character of Willie Brown the blues magician who sold his soul to The Devil for success is based upon the true life character of blues legend Robert Johnson, which the film incorporates into the story.
is not so much a fantasy film as it is a contemplation and analysis of the blues itself.
Walter Hill was also to have been the original director of Alien (1979) before being replaced by Ridley Scott, with he retaining only producer credit on the film, plus all three sequels.

 Fist Of Legend
However, this scene is the most intense in the film, showcasing different fighting styles including swords and a belt as makeshift nunchaku!
My favourite scene sees Chen take on the Japanese school single-handed and although it is missing a nunchaku sequence, it improves on the original in terms of choreography and pace, but let's remember that 'Fist of Fury' came 22 years previous and was only Bruce’s second film!
The climax of the film is also excellent, as we see Chen accompany Chin Siu Ho to a challenge match which becomes too much for him, and ultimately sees Chen battle with Billy Chow as a Japanese General, completely scrapping Bob Baker's original Russian character.

Buena Vista Social Club loses another singer
Following in the footsteps of another band member, the late guitarist Compay Segundo who died in 2003, Ferrer launched a solo career and released albums in 1999 and 2003, netting him four Latin Grammy awards.
In 1997, Ferrer’s name was lifted from obscurity by the Buena Vista Social Club, group formed in part by Texas music legend, Ry Cooder.
Born at a social dance in Santiago, Cuba, Ferrer began singing professionally in 1941.

DVD Times - Standing In The Shadows Of Motown
Standing In The Shadows Of Motown might just be one of the best music films ever released.
The film takes as it's framework the entire history of Motown; from its roots as a reaction to Evis brand of white rock 'n' roll, right up until its ignoble death among the vapid dream factory of Hollywood and the dead desert wasteland of Los Angeles.
A good sound mix is vital for a film like this, and on this instance, we haven't been let down.

The 1986 film Crossroads riffed off of Johnson's elusive personal history and the myth that the bluesman once cut a deal with the devil.
And a handful of documentaries, including one starring bluesman Keb 'Mo in dramatized sequences, have sought to unveil the man behind the legend.
Over the years, Johnson's songs have been recorded by Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green, and hundreds of others.

Country Standard Time: Marty Raybon, March 2003
arty Raybon, longtime lead singer for Shenandoah during their Grammy-winning heyday in the late '80s and early '90s, vividly recalls the 1986 film "Crossroads" in which Ralph Macchio plays a Julliard prodigy who becomes obsessed with the blues and seeks out a living blues legend, played by Joe Seneca.

Get Rich or Die Tryin' Movie Review - Get Rich or Die Tryin' Movie Trailer - The Boston Globe
And so "Get Rich" details all that personal history to build back up to the incident that has made 50 Cent an urban legend: Marcus is shot nine times.
One of those somebodies is the Irishman Jim Sheridan, who also directed "Get Rich." Sheridan is best known for making "My Left Foot" and the blistering IRA film "In the Name of the Father." 50's fans won't be disappointed with the filmmaking muscle Sheridan lends to this malarkey.
The story opens with the now-legendary assassination attempt on 50 -- make that Marcus -- then flashes back to the 1980s when he was a 12-year-old (Marc John Jefferies) on the mean streets of Queens.

slant // magazine.com: Film Review - Get Rich or Die Tryin'
Yet more often than not, his film—ending with a triumphant concert that's preceded by a community-wide anti-drug march, thereby casting Marcus's music as a force of virtuous social change—primarily forgoes gritty realism in favor of disingenuous, reductive fantasy in the star-glorifying vanity project mold.
Content to coast by on peripheral players' (admittedly amusing) histrionics and platitudes like "Respect is the most important thing in life," the film refuses to assess its title's debatable suggestion that monetary wealth—acquired either by slinging crack or spitting verses—is an end-all, be-all goal worth dying for.
reiteration of the now-clichéd hip-hop rise-to-fame legend that duplicates the crime-to-rhyme formula of Hustle & Flow, Get Rich or Die Tryin' marks Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson's bid to mythologize his own life story in the same manner as musical mentor Eminem did with 8 Mile.
