Patrick's, which was much closer to his home, because St. Mel's had a concert band, a jazz band, and a marching band.
Catering to the large Irish population of the city, the Shannon Show Band appeared at such venues as the Blarney Club, playing Elvis Presley, country and western, and Top 40 music, in addition to the obligatory Irish waltzes.
Now, Parazaider, Kath, Seraphine, and Loughnane decided to develop Parazaider's concept for a rock 'n roll band with horns.

When I met Chicago that first time in January 1979, Lee was the only member of the band I wasn't photographed with.
It took place on Wednesday 4 February 2004 at Sky City Theatre in Auckland and featured songs from his latest solo album Subtlety and Passion (my favourite CD of 2003) as well as his past solo albums and his best known Chicago hits.
The band featured a few other Chicago members (Lee Loughnane, Jason Scheff and Tris Imboden), some New Zealand musicians, and Lamm's talented co-writer and co-producer on Subtlety and Passion, Hank Linderman, flown in especially from Los Angeles.

While gaining some success as a cover band, the group worked on original songs and, in 1968, moved to Los Angeles, California under the guidance of their friend and manager James William Guercio, and signed with Columbia Records.
The band featured an unusual and unusually versatile line-up of instrumentalists, including saxophonist Walter Parazaider, trombonist James Pankow, and trumpet player Lee Loughnane, along with more traditional rock instruments -- guitarist Terry Kath, keyboardist Robert Lamm, drummer Danny Seraphine, and bassist Peter Cetera (who was the last to join the original group).
