 KLAUS SCHULZE - "X"
Schulze writes easy-listening electronic music that isn’t always easy to listen to, in that it takes time for his compositions to imbed themselves on the psyche.
Schulze's lengthy compositions are a little more diverse on “X&; than many of his more ‘themed’ albums, beginning with the prog-rock via electric guitar and drums of Friedrich Nietzsche and the space age cosmic electronica of Geroge Trakl, before branching out into deeper classical territory on disc two.

 Untitled Document
Klaus Schulze is without a shadow of doubt one of the most important figures in the development of electronic music, whether it be of progressive nature or not.
As should be expected from those in the know, the majority of the music contained by the record reflects a sparse quality of ethereal grandeur, a collection of subtle musical layers and variations that surround constant thematic structures of a predominant mood.
The problem here is that Schulze's habit of concentrating on a particular theme during most part of a track can eventually get to be a tad bit too much after listening to seven instrumentals of similar approach, with only "Der Optimismus" to break the mold.

 Klaus Schulze
Schulze graduated to 8-track in 1975 and to 16-track in 1979.
The Godfather of German electronic music, Klaus Schulze favoured an all-digital approach to recording during the '80s.
Schulze's extensive use of effects boxes lends his music a kind of pulsating, random phase interference, adding to the depth and movement of the sound.

The album was Schulze's lone effort with the group, however, as he soon co-founded Ash Ra Tempel with Manuel Gottsching and Harmut Enke, debuting in 1971 with a self-titled record; again, however, the band format appeared to stifle Schulze, and he mounted a solo career a few months later.
Born in Berlin on August 4, 1947, Schulze began his performing career during the 1960s, playing guitar, bass and drums in a variety of local bands; by 1969, he was drumming in Tangerine Dream, appearing a year later on their debut LP Electronic Meditation.
The 1980s were no less fertile, with Schulze issuing a steady stream of new work in addition to various productions released on his own IC label; Dig It was his first fully digital recording.
