John Peel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
John Robert Parker Ravenscroft, OBE (30 August 1939 – 25 October 2004), known professionally as John Peel, was a British disc jockey, radio presenter, and journalist.
Peel also championed a wealth of other musical genres from reggae to death metal.
His subsequent programmes, known simply as John Peel shows, continued in the same vein, although their musical content was transformed after 1976, when, weary of the "adult-oriented rock" of the mid-70s, he chose to support the punk movement - to the dismay of some of his listeners and the delight of a new, younger audience.

John Peel (born 1954) is a British writer, best known for his books connected to several television series.
For similar reasons, Peel is one of the only novelists to have used the Daleks in full-length original Doctor Who novels, writing War of the Daleks and Legacy of the Daleks in the Eighth Doctor Adventures range for BBC Books in 1997 and 1998 respectively.
A friend of the writer Terry Nation, he wrote novelisations of several Doctor Who stories featuring Nation's Daleks for Target Books, reportedly one of the few writers willing to do so due to the large percentage of the author's fee Nation's agents demanded for the rights to use the Daleks.
