The Second Jimmy McHugh Memorial Concert
Jimmy was never professionally recorded, but his playing of Pigeon on the Gate (often associated with another Donegal fiddler, Neillidh Boyle) is the closing track on this otherwise live recording at the Mitchell Theatre, Glasgow, of the second festival held in his memory in January, 2001.
Several of Jimmy McHugh's own compositions are featured on the album.
Jimmy's version is utterly unlike Boyle's and much more akin stylistically to the Michael Coleman 1922 recording which is unsurprising, since he apparently learned tunes from Coleman's records.

'M' ENTRIES - Page 2 on the COMPOSERS - LYRICISTS DATABASE
Here's a photograph of Jimmy McHugh, a prolific pop composer who had hit songs and Broadway scores from the 1920s into the 1950s.
McHugh has had two productive musical partnerships: McHugh and Fields, and McHugh and Adamson.
Also, in 1928, Fields and McHugh wrote song for the Broadway musical 'Hello Daddy' produced by and starring Dorothy's dad, Lew Fields.

Jimmy McHugh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jimmy McHugh (July 10, 1894 - May 23, 1969), was one of the greatest and most prolific songwriters during the 1920s-1950s.
McHugh and Fields seemed to have a good working relationship, with Dorothy writing the lyrics and McHugh supplying the music.
However, his mother was an accomplished pianist, and McHugh quickly fell in love with music.

The Siongs of Jimmy McHugh : Nostalgia CD Reviews: Musicweb(UK)
What a songwriter Jimmy McHugh was and I recommend this disc with enthusiasm to bring back so many memories.
An excellent number to follow is Connie Boswell singing "Lost In a Fog" with Jimmy Grier and Orchestra recorded in October 1934 from the film "Have a Heart".
McHugh went on to produce many songs with other partners too.

Wesla Whitfield Let's Get Lost: The Songs of Jimmy McHugh
McHugh “wrote a great many songs, among them some of the best pop songs ever written.” In The Unsung Songwriters, his survey of Tin Pan Alley songwriters published last year, Warren W. Vaché noted that Mr.
McHugh’s songs “have become fixtures in the jazz catalog.
His songs were of exceeding musical merit, they enjoyed huge commercial success, and they have endured the test of time.

SendMeMovies.com - Terence Blanchard: Let's Get Lost: The Songs of Jimmy McHugh (2001) - SACD
This album is a tribute to songwriter Jimmy McHugh, a pillar of Broadway and Hollywood throughout much of the first half of the 20th century.
They appear on two songs apiece - except for Krall, who leads off the album playing piano and singing only on the title track.
Let's Get Lost is a bit of a letdown when placed next to Blanchard's 2000 effort, Wandering Moon, which featured a blistering sextet playing original music.

Whitfield said he would call ahead to restaurants to be sure his songs were on their Muzak systems and, when he went to Mexico, he expected the mariachi bands to play his music.

For the next six years McHugh and Fields contributed songs to several unmemorable movies, none of which were film musicals.
They also made regular forays back to Broadway revues.
Adamson and McHugh wrote a great many songs for the Deanna Durbin films and for other Hollywood pictures.
