Jesus Jones - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jesus Jones is a British London-based rock group that performed and recorded in the late 1980s, throughout the 1990s, and into the 2000s.
The fourth album, after a hiatus of some years, was the ironically titled Already, after which Jesus Jones and EMI parted company.
In 2004 they released the single "Culture Vulture", whilst in 2005 DJ and producer Robbie Riviera had a club hit with a remix of 'Right Here Right Now' but did not manage to follow his single 'Bang' into the Top 40.

 MTV.com Jesus Jones Biography
Jesus Jones' murky mix of samples, pop, dance tracks, and techno resulted in one huge international hit single, "Right Here, Right Now" (taken from their second album, Doubt), that pretty much sums up all of the band's virtues -- a strong melody and hook, with a flair for making the dance club...
Based on the platinum success of Doubt, Jesus Jones' leader guitarist/vocalist Mike Edwards decided it was his mission to make techno palatable for the pop masses and recorded their follow-up album, 1993's Perverse, almost entirely on computer.
Initially, the album was only released in the U.K.; it was released in the U.S. during the spring of 1998.

Jesus Jones, after taking a few years off, have reunited and released a new album, London, which has slipped under the radar of radio and press, despite being a solid album.
Jesus Jones shunned their last major label release, Perverse, for the most part to play a large portion of their debut Liquidizer.
Where most bands would have walked through a set, Jesus Jones played their best and gave everything to the people at the front of the stage.

While never emerging from the shadow of the original Stourbridge bands, Jesus Jones helped to accustom listeners to dance music with a heavy rock element, a sound which would later be taken to extremes by late-‘90s electronica bands like the Prodigy.

While more mainstream than the original Stourbridge bands, Jesus Jones featured samples and dance-inspired beats with fuzzy guitars and rap-inflected vocals.

Jesus Jones: Live at the Marquee [DVD] - PopMatters Music Review
Indeed, the Jesus Jones live spectacle is by all measures a fairly barebones affair, featuring the five members of the band onstage at all times, playing their songs the only way they know how.
For the U.S. audience, however, the song is bound to come off as simply another song from Doubt, Jesus Jones's one hit album in the States, on which it appeared as a bonus track.
The best news of all of this is that the members of Jesus Jones get to play a pile of songs that they rarely get to play amongst all of the big hits, without leaving out the requisite selections from the (then) new album, London.

 TWAS 138: Jesus Jones
Jesus Jones are the perfect band to cheer me as I work, because they're one of the few bands that remind me that technology is good for something, after all.
The substrate of sampler chatter that underlies nearly every Jesus Jones song is not mimicry of any real-world instrument or other composition; the pieces of the original have been chopped so finely that they have become something fundamentally different than their source (note that this doesn't work with Hamburger Helper).
The disc we've had on highest rotation, though, is Already, the fourth album by Jesus Jones (the domestic release of which has been delayed by the collapse of EMI, but I got impatient and bought an import).

Sure, Jesus Jones were more popular at home in the United Kingdom, but a compilation like this reminds us that simply because a song was a single doesn't mean it was a hit.
The title of this collection aims to remind music listeners there were other Jones songs besides "Right Here, Right Now" – the only track that the radio seems to remember.
Not only did the songs beg to be sung along to, but the electronic component also made the music danceable.

 TrouserPress.com :: Jesus Jones
Infatuated with American hip-hop, New York guitar noise and British dance music, Jesus Jones — named following a Spanish vacation during which natives referred to all of the musicians as Jones (the Jesus is supposed to be pronounced Hay-zeus) — made quite an initial splash, playing busy, sample-heavy dance rock.
History will record Jesus Jones as a one-hit wonder (1991's "Right Here, Right Now"), a shoe-in for the inevitable '90s retrospectives to come.
Occasionally the tunes will out: the hushed quality of "Yellow Brown" is effective, and a firm, unfettered groove buoys "The Right Decision"; clean production and a powerful arrangement make "Idiot Stare" the album's best track.

Jesus Jones' signature noise was always a four-layer arrangement of airy synthesizers, Mike Edwards' yearning voice, driving guitars and a dense, roiling bed of sampler twitter and drum-machine thrash.
The gadgets and samples finally show up for the percolating "Hello Neon!", but even with the hip-hoppish "Mo mo mo" vocal blurts to play with the band still opts for a unselfconsciously fiery rock chorus.
Take them away and we're still left with Mike's grand, wavery voice, his and Jerry De Borg's dramatic multi-part harmonies, and the conviction, both in Mike's writing and the band's playing, that songs should have destinations, and make efficient progress towards them.

 Doubt by Jesus Jones CD
Following their debut album, Jesus Jones released a pair of singles in 1990, "Right Here, Right Now" and "Real, Real, Real," which lifted them into the realm of superstardom, in the United States anyway.
This is a shame, though, as DOUBT, the band's second album, is full of good tracks, among them "International Bright Young Thing," where a hyped-up, shuffling beat gives structure to peals of guitar shrapnel.
At home in England, they were grouped in with the so-called "grebo" movement--scruffy young men playing speedy pop songs shot through with humor and adolescent ennui--which consisted of bands like the Wonder Stuff, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, and Pop Will Eat Itself, all of which had devout followings throughout Europe.
