 Iggy Pop: The Stooges
Following three albums, the Stooges disbanded, but the group's legacy grew over the next two decades, as legions of underground bands used their sludgy grind as a foundation for a variety of indie-rock styles, and as Iggy Pop became a pop cultural icon.
Meanwhile, the Stooges lived on in countless semi-legal releases and repackagings of live shows, demos and outtakes, all of which were consumed avidly by a still-devoted cult.
Iggy stuck with Bowie, who helped him shake heroin and establish a solo career with the 1977 albums The Idiot and Lust for Life.

Iggy & The Stooges Live In Detroit Review By Keith "MuzikMan" Hannaleck
When Iggy was pumping out Detroit City punk rock with the Stooges, he produced a prototypical musical style that every band was looking for, that gritty loud tough garage/punk rock sound.
With the exception of Mike Watt (bass), the original band members Iggy, Ron (guitar) and Scott Asheton (drums), perform the songs from first two Stooges albums (1969 and 1970).

The CD, freshly remixed by Iggy himself, finally captures the edge and execution of the group as it must have sounded to scores of disaffected Detroit youth some 25 years ago.

The performance comes in advance of the summer release of Iggy's next record, which will include four newly recorded songs from the Stooges as well as his solo work.

Also included are Rock's notes on the band and its iconic leader, Iggy Pop, as well as interviews he conducted with the singer.
Grainy and unpolished, these photographs stand out not so much for their precision and clarity but because of the seeming ease with which they capture the live-fast-die-young spirit of the band and its music.

BBC - collective - Iggy & The Stooges - Raw Power
Formed in the late 60's by James Jewel Osterberg (aka the aformentioned Iggy Pop), Ron Asheton and Scott Asheton, the Stooges were a complete ideal of negation - their music was rebellious, their shows were a complete shambles, and their drug-taking was of the smack-laden variety.
As Pop says on the re-mixed edition, this is a very violent record.
Originally produced by Bowie - but re-mixed with more 'oomph' by Pop, Raw Power is a fearsome record, loud, abrasive, and ultimately, the first major catalyst of the Punk era - The Ramones, The Pistols and The Clash were the brackdraft of The Stooges' initial explosion in 1973.
