Hank Williams was scheduled to play a concert in Canton, OH, on January 1, 1953.
Williams wrote a body of songs that became popular classics, and his direct, emotional lyrics and vocals became the standard for most popular performers.
In 1961, Hank Williams was one of the first inductees to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Hank didn't have to "interpret" sad songs; he had only to sing from his heart.
No one in Hank's circle wanted him to waste time or tape on "Lovesick Blues." The song was a throwaway, they said; a piece of fluff that was more likely to damage his career than enhance it.
