Â Martin Denny

At first, Denny was heavily influenced by the piano/vibes combo sound of George Shearing, particularly Shearing's highly successful MGM album, You're Hearing George Shearing.
After Denny's single of "Quiet Village" started its climb up the Top 40 charts, Lyman was hired by another fledling LA label, Hi Fi Records, and began recording his own string of albums, all heavily influenced by Denny's sound.
Most of Denny's recordings feature his trademark animal sounds and exotic percussion instruments, but a number of his mid-1960s albums featured what Liberty termed his "honey" sound.

Â CD review: "Dangerous Moments"

The Beat Farmers and George Thorogood come to mind as bands that certainly don't abandon principles of solid musicianship, but manage to have a good time while they're at it.
Martin Briley is another, although he approaches it more from eye smirking sort of fun that Joe Walsh espouses.
Individually, the songs from Briley's latest album, "Dangerous Moments," are reminiscent of Phil Collins' solo work, but the effect of the album is a whole is more cohesive than Collins, and closer to that of, say, Gerry Rafferty.

Â Martin Taylor - Nitelife in Charts Music

Nitelife, Taylor's second album for Sony, leans more heavily than the first on the Wes Montgomery-cum-George Benson derived smooth-jazz angle, but his commitment to quality, in whatever field he plays, remains intact.
The one thing that lets it down is that Taylor, who avoids blatant cliché in every other aspect of the record, hires a saxophonist, Kirk Whalum, who does nothing but ape Turrentine and Washington at their most obvious.
Some may question the low flame apparent in the often heavily sequenced tracks, most of which suffer from undistinguished melodies but which are given sophisticated arrangements.

The ECO Recital, 7.30pm on 1 March 2006 at London's Wigmore Hall, features violinist Stephanie Gonley and pianist Martin Roscoe, who play Beethoven's Kreutzer (Bridgetower) Sonata and Brahms' Sonata in G. Stephanie Gonley also plays Elliott Carter's Four Lauds for solo violin.
Later on the same day Beethoven and Bridgewater had an argument and Beethoven re-dedicated his new violin sonata to Europe's greatest violin virtuoso, Rodolphe Kreutzer who looked at it, declared it impossible to play and never performed it in public.
