Swing (genre) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Swing bands tended to be bigger and more crowded than other jazz bands, necessitating a slightly more detailed and organized type of composition and notation than was then the norm.
They are characterised by the swing rhythm already at that time common in jazz music, and a lively style which is harder to define but distinctive.
The second change that occurred as swing music increased in popularity outside the black community, was, to some extent, an increasing pressure on musicians and band leaders to soften (some would say dumb-down) the music to cater to a more staid and conservative, Anglo-American audience.

Genre and recalcitrance. Country music's move uptown
The specter of country music being obliterated, unless it cloaked itself in the dominant music, pop music, is still invoked in Nashville today to explain the abandoning of honky-tonk instrumentation in the 1950s.
Country music, before during and after the 1950s, was consciously created by people, not forces, and their beliefs about the nature and implications of change in the music was what ultimately transformed it.
The change in country music is a metaphor for, or a reflection of, the shift from a rural, communal society, to an urban society of commercial relations, where alliances are vague and commoditized.

When hardcore and metal collided thrash emerged as a fusion of punk song stylings and musical ethos with metal riff styles and topics.
Low-fi neo-progressive rock from the late 1960s started this genre, in the form of Black Sabbath, who used power chord riffing and dark modalities to express the paranoid nihilism which was a sublimated counterpoint to the dominant impulse toward simplistic absolutism ("peace" and "love") of the time.
Arguably for the most part rhythm music, this genre uses muffled picking and tremelo strumming of power chords or single-string playing to hammer out a machine code of intricate riff textures and the geometries of convergent sound.
