 FUNK FINGERS FAQ & FEEDBACK
I was just reading over the funk fingers invention, as it's a hobby of mine to experiment with my bass in dangerous ways, by hitting them with such objects as drills, bolts, nuts, cups etc. The funk fingers really appealed to me! But just as I opened my wallet...
Use the funk fingers to hit the strings in a certain percussive pattern and hammer on and pull off with your fretting hand.
For those just trying out Funk Fingers, Here's a couple of 'tips' that may be helpful: 1) take your time getting used to them, I initially had problems in hitting ONLY the string I wanted (esp. the A and D strings!), but with practice, it gets easier (try doing scales slowly).

Another extremely strong release from Johnny, with some killer funk cuts in the form of the Dusty Fingers comped “Return to The Ashes”, a big drum break on the ‘70s re-working of the “Modesty Blaise” theme and so many other great library-style funk tracks.
Classic US funk LP, featuring a great version of Schifrin’s “Enter the Dragon” and the very funky, psychedelic freak-out that is “The Mind Excursion".
Great oddball easy-funk form the famous de Wolfe library composer, featuring UK session heavyweights such as Alf Bigden, Alan Parker and Herbie Flowers etc. Standout funky track is Ann Peeble’s “I Can’t Stand the Rain”, but plenty more great lounge/weird moments to be had.

 Nuno Bettencourt Page
This useful percussive maneuver involves lightly resting your left-hand fingers on the strings as yoy strum; as Nuno ilustrates in Figure 1-a funky motif reminiscent of one in "Ge The Funk Out." The muted, or deadended notes are indicated by x's in both the staff and tabulature.
Nuno uses a single downstroke to sound the Bb and C octaves in the second bar, though they could just as well be plucked with two fingers.
So, let's take a quick look at the echo setting Nuno so cleverly employs throughout his "Flight." The delay is set for a single repeat three 16th-notes after the note is initially sounded.

 The Bloodhound Gang Reviews
Unlike Bloodhound Gang's 1995 debut, Use Your Fingers, which was essentially a sample-heavy rap album with rock tendencies, Beer Coaster features a new backing band for more of a live rock sound, with muscle-bound funk touches and rapping (think 311 or Cake).
On their debut album, Use Your Fingers, Bloodhound Gang make it clear which group they expect to be confused with: "No, I'm not the guy from the Beastie Boys!" yells Jimmy Pop (or is it his partner Daddy Long Legs?).
Full of TV namedropping (Emmanuel Lewis), shopping lists (No-Doz, Rolos), and gleeful juxtapositions (Jack Kerouac and Gilbert Gottfried in the same line), Pop's rhymes are dense enough to be topical as well: various songs cover feminine hygiene, suicide as population control, acting gay as a way to meet women, and so on.

Bass guitar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The electric bass, in contrast to the electric upright bass, is played while being held horizontally across the body and may be played with the fingers (and sometimes the thumb) or a plectrum (pick).
The electric bass is the standard bass instrument in many musical genres, including country, jazz, many flavors of rock and roll, soul, funk, and modern orchestral music.
The instrument is a descendant of the double bass (a cousin of the violin and viola da gamba) and shares design attributes of the electric guitar and features in common with a range of other bass instruments.

Bass guitar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Using a plectrum typically gives the bass a brighter, more punchy sound, while playing with one's fingers makes the sound more soft and round.
This often varies according to the musical genre —very few funk bassists use plectrums, while they are almost de rigueur for punk rock.
Some bassists use their fingernails flamenco-style to provide some compromise between playing fingerstyle and using a pick.

 Charlie Hunter Press - August 4, 1995
When young Bay Area musicians were filling local clubs with the sounds of jazz fused with funk, hip-hop and ethnic music, Hunter's groups were perhaps the most popular of all those performing -- guitar fanatics were awed by his technique, and regular folks simply liked his funky sound.
There seem to be alien forces at work when Hunter plays his eight-string guitar: His thumb thumps smooth bass lines, while his fingers simultaneously tickle melodies and slap rhythms.
Hunter's jazzy, polyrhythmic playing gives the semblance of three brains at work when he plays his custom-made instrument, which uses both electric guitar and bass guitar strings.
