Kris, Pygmy's lefty guitarist, wore a manic, glazed-over stare that became positively feral as several of his bandmates let their shoes fly off their feet into the ceiling or against the walls, and singer Edward Adames dived off the stage to feign death on the floor for a few minutes.
No mere fashion victims, though, Pygmy is best-known for performances so energetic that band members (and their shoes) separate from the stage like fur flying in a cat fight, feet rarely touching floors.
Until then, all the songs on the band's stunning, eight-song CD Pygmy Performs are available for listening at www.mp3/pygmy.

On this CD it is evident that the voice of Floor is even more “dominant” than on the previous albums, but it is also clear that the music has changed from gothic metal to darker, heavier, powerful metal.
Thankfully, the loss of Mark Jansen doesn’t seem to have had a particularly detrimental effect on the band’s song-writing abilities, and the majority of the tracks on this album work very well indeed.
During the more tranquil passages the voice of Floor Jansen, generally playing the role of the child, sings of her plight as a child who is but an annoying presence that her career-obsessed parents prefer to ignore.

In retrospect, Discreet Music and the Another Green World had made it increasingly clear that Eno was falling out of love with the song as a means of expression.
And for all its musical and aesthetic crudeness, Eno himself must have approved: at 40-minutes, the song was the longest track in British chart history to enter the Top Ten.
