Foreigner (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Foreigner today is a staple of classic rock stations, and still contain legions of fans who admire and adore their innovative arena rock anthems, which have had a major effect on music and culture in the United States.
Foreigner is a rock and roll band formed in New York in 1976 by experienced musicians Mick Jones and Ian McDonald.
Foreigner's next album, 4, was their biggest hit containing Jukebox Hero, Waiting for a Girl Like You, and Urgent.

Foreigner DVD-A music review on AudioRevolution.com
Foreigner was Foreigner’s landmark album, laden with hits and a developed style that has defined a genre of music that has since been archived with millions of spins on classic rock radio and been loved by generations of listeners.
Foreigner is a bit cheesy to this member of Generation X, yet their musical talent and, more importantly, their songwriting gifts give them staying power more than 20 years after their call to glory.
Camaros, mullets and armless t-shirts were in vogue when Foreigner was the indisputable king of rock ‘n’ roll in the very early 1980s, when their self-titled album laid claim to the title of Atlantic Records largest-selling record internationally.

 80sxchange.com: 80's Biographies: Foreigner
Foreigner released their third album, Head Games, in 1979.
Six years after their LA peace talks, several tours, and the release of a greatest hits, live album and a new album of studio recordings entitled Mr.
Moonlight, the band's first album reuniting guitarist Mick Jones and vocalist Lou Gramm since 1987, Foreigner kicked into the Nineties with unleashed abandon and ferocity-- and what may well be their strongest album ever in a long line of multi-platinum smashes.

 VH1.com : Foreigner : Biography
Foreigner's leader from the beginning has been British guitarist Mick Jones, who first broke into the music biz as a "hired gun" of sorts, appearing on recordings by George Harrison and Peter Frampton, and as part of a later-day version of hard rockers Spooky Tooth.
Foreigner remained a popular concert attraction, but the band's future was thrust into doubt in 1997 when Gramm was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Foreigner's self-titled debut was issued in 1977 and became an immediate hit on the strength of the hit singles "Feels Like the First Time," "Long, Long Way From Home," and the aforementioned "Cold As Ice," as the album would eventually go platinum five times over.

 DVD-Audio Review: Foreigner - ‘Foreigner’
Foreigner the group was formed by Mick Jones, who had already composed many of the album’s songs, and comprised recognised musicians and members of lesser-known bands, most notably Lou Gramm, who provides the distinct and timeless vocal lead.
‘Foreigner’ was the first album from the legendary 70’s super-group of the same name.

 DVD-Audio Review: Foreigner - ‘4’
Foreigner’s first release is also reviewed on this site, [here] but as much as I enjoyed that album both now and back in 1977, it is the later Foreigner albums that really blow my skirt up.
Foreigner ‘4’ is an album I know and love, partly because I’m a closet fan of the musical style — that powerful guitar-driven 80’s rock — and partly because I’ve been a Foreigner follower since the late 70’s.
For Foreigner fans everywhere, the disc contains two bonus tracks, ‘nearly unplugged’ versions of ‘Juke Box Hero’ and ‘Waiting For a Girl Like You’ performed by Mick Jones and Lou Gramm that were recorded at Mick’s own home studio in 1999.

Amazon.com: Music: Agent Provocateur [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED]
Following the release of their 1981 album, 4, Foreigner took a break from recording for a while.
Foreigner is generally a band which critics love to hate, but why is this album still loved by many fans?
It may not be as hard rocking as some of their earlier 70's albums, but it is still a strong collection of rockers and ballads which offer a bit of variety throughout the disc.

You are a true Foreigner fan :) I listen to their music almost everyday.
Some of their songs, like Hot Blooded implied that they were doing the things that most bands on the road do, but you gotta admit that you didn't hear about it thru the news or the musical grapevine.
Sharon: I have heard a snippet of Wynonna's version of IWTKWLI -- I just wish it would be released as her next single off of that album of hers.

 Motel Magazine: Foreigner Rocks Sacramento!
This is not to say that I didn't know any Foreigner songs back in the day — actually, my favorite song when I was 8 or 9 was by Foreigner...
The signature Foreigner guitar sound blasted out of the State Fair speakers in that polite and safe State Fair way...
The singer can't sing half the songs (so they end up playing lots of ballads), the venues are almost exclusively state fairs and Indian casinos, Foreigner live just doesn't sound anywhere near as good as Foreigner recordings, and they've got no sense of humor about the whole thing.

The Foreigner selection as one of the 3 worst love songs came via an on-line poll, as did "3 worst dance songs", "3 worst boy band songs" and several others.
Foreigner has been my favourite band since I was child.
I kinda wished they would have released those songs to radio but I understood the FM Rock at that time, their signature rockers stood out and were Foreigner's more popular jams, I highly agreed with that.

Foreigner is on a break working on the new album (what that entails at this point, no one knows---the info has been very sparse and simple) as well as various members also working on other projects as well.
I was horrified to think that idiot had made an Remake of Foreigners song, so I listened to it and it was actually "OK".
They are not touring, they are doing album work, and such as it is, they (mgt) have to focus their resources on supporting the bands on their roster that are actively touring right now.

 Urgent by Foreigner Songfacts
Not long after the relase of the Foreigner album, he was Blinded By Science, so to speak, and made his own name for himself in the pop world.
The synthesizers on this song, and on the other songs on the "4" album, were played by a session musician named Thomas Dolby.

I do not object at all to the idea of a Foreigner song being used to sell anything, if the original version is used, but now when people hear that commercial, they will not hear FLTFT as we came to know and love it.
the millions of other people that bought foreigner's albums in the late seventies and eighties hear that commerical and say to themselves " i remember that band" or "i remember that song" and maybe it sparks a few to go out and buy the old first album.
Re the music biz being the sole bread and butter of some if not all the original Foreigner band members, Mick, Lou and Ian are still in the music biz (Mick and Lou being quite financially well off, wouldn't you say ?) Dennis is a successful woodwork artist.

It's funny because so many of the Foreigner hits of the last few years have been ballad or more keyboard oriented but in fact the band is still basically a guitar rock band live.
Turgon's career dates back to the late '60s releasing three major label albums in a band with buddy Lou Gramm.

Get Ready to ROCK! Feature about the 1991 CD album by Shadow King featuring Foreigner vocalist Lou Gramm
Freed of the strictures of the AOR Monolith that Foreigner became in the late-eighties, Gramm’s short-lived band really kicked ass with punchy, commercial songs and a hard rock sensibility punctuated by Turgon’s deft keyboard fills and Campbell’s understated guitar.
Here the band performed steaming versions of Foreigner hits as well as most of the album, and one of the encores included Free’s ‘Fire and Water’.
This is the feature where we revisit bands or albums that are worthy of attention but may well have been overlooked over the years…we also signpost the definitive CD versions and related albums worth investigating.

After that Foreigner broke off with their bass player Ed Gagliardi who (according to Mick Jones) didn´t get along with the advancing hard rock elements of the Foreigner songs.
In the summer of the same year the single “Cold as ice”, as well from their debut album “Foreigner”, even went one step further and hummed out of all radio stations in Germany as well.
Now you can see Foreigner with Mick Jones and new drummer Jason Bonham and new lead singer Kelly Hansen, or you can see the Lou Gramm Band.
