Epitaph Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It was the band L7's self-titled album, and it was distributed by Chameleon.
Most of the bands on Epitaph are punk rock and punk groups, but several sub-labels exist, such as ANTI-, Fat Possum Records, Burning Heart Records and Hellcat Records that have signed other types of bands.
Epitaph Records is a Hollywood, California based record label owned by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz.

 Epitaph Records
Epitaph Records has kept the spirit of punk, garage and riff rock (in all its unusual combinations) alive for years.
Many things are cool about this CD but the best is the fact that Aston had never been in a band before when he was asked by Armstrong to write lyrics to a song he had put together in Pro Tools.
Recorded in Armstrong's home basement studio the 12-track disc includes four songs, 'Romper Stomper', 'Tall Cans In The Air', 'California Babylon' and 'Diamonds And Guns' first featured on Epitaph's web site in mid October.

 Bad Religion
In 1997, Bad Religion released Tested, an import-only live record on Sony Dragnet Records, with 27 songs culminated from their Gray Race Tour; rumor is Atlantic may release it in the States in Fall '97, but nothing is confirmed.
Only one Epitaph album is better left collecting dust (the '70s pop Into The Unknown); the remainder are average or exceptional.
While others from the Los Angeles punk scene came and went, Bad Religion is still writing, recording and releasing music nearly two decades after forming.

Guttermouth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A few years after their inception, Guttermouth signed a recording contract with Offspring lead singer Bryan Dexter Holland's Nitro Records, and began issuing albums at a breakneck pace, including 1996's Teri Yakimoto, 1997's Musical Monkey, and 1999's Gorgeous, the latter featuring new drummer Ty Smith.
In recent years, Guttermouth has received criticism from other punk rock bands for their outspoken refusal to support organizations like Punk Voter.
By the dawn of the new millennium, Guttermouth had switched to Epitaph Records in 2000, and issued further releases such as 2001's Covered With Ants, 2002's Gusto!

Rolling Stone : Emusic Nails Epitaph
Unlike major labels, Epitaph is not participating in the IBM/Real Networks' Electronic Music Management System (EMMS) trials, code-named the Madison Project, which has 1,000 homes in San Diego wired with high-speed modems and CD recorders with access to major label music.
Emusic is the natural partner for Epitaph; independent artists (like Frank Black and George Clinton) have flocked to Emusic to sell their music online as an alternative to the record industry e-commerce juggernaut.
Since its inception in the early Eighties, Epitaph Records has waved the independent punk banner.

Tiger Army - III: Ghost Tigers Rise (Epitaph Records) - MusicRemedy.com, Brings Music to Life
Through this "better-than-nothing" approach 13 was able to record a demo (later to be issued as the Early Years EP) that made its way into the hands of Rancid frontman and Hellcat Records co-founder Tim Armstrong, who was impressed enough to sign the young songwriter, despite his lack of a band.
He circumvented this problem by "borrowing" members from friends' bands for however many gigs or recording sessions they were available for before going back on the road with their respective bands.
Hell's continued presence and coaching in the studio insured that the band's arrangements were preserved in the recording.

ROCKZONE.COM: CD Reviews: 1208 - Turn THe Screw
The main forte of these bands that Dragge has taken under his wing is that they are good punk rock bands that play straightforward, no B.S. punk rock.
Their brand of anthemic, catchy, and straightforward punk rock caught the attention of Pennywise's guitarist Fletcher Dragge, who helped them get signed to Epitaph Records, and also produced their Epitaph Debut, Feedback is Payback.
The lyricism, as mentioned above, seems to have taken a steep decline from their previous effort, tackling boring lyrical topics that have been beaten to death by the billion other punk bands.

Mr Brett left the band after Recipe for Hate to focus on Epitaph records (which he owns) when the band signed to a major label.
Well written, introspective lyrics to make you think and ask yourself, “Why the hell can’t I write good stuff like that?” Definitely one of those records that on first listen it is appealing, but by sixth or seventh listen you realize that this is a damned good album.

Brett started the now ever popular Epitaph Records to release the band’s albums on after all the major labels at the time refused to sign them or anything else that had an ounce of punk.
They then recorded Generator and just a year later released Recipe for Hate, which was re-released on major label, Atlantic Records in 1993.
Their third release was not widely well accepted by the majority of their fans and this caused the band to separate between 1983 and 1987.

 purevolume™ Epitaph Records
Epitaph Records was founded by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz, with the simple idea of making an artist-friendly label from a musicians point of view.
Along the way Epitaph has launched two very successful sister labels: Hellcat Records, specializing in Punk, Psychobilly & Ska, home of Dropkick Murphys, Tiger Army, Horrorpops among many others, and Anti-, representing such distinguished artists as Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Elliott Smith, Neko Case and Jolie Holland.
Perhaps, most well known for being the little indie from L.A. that spawned the 90s punk explosion, Epitaph stayed independent even while breaking gold and multi-platinum acts such as The Offspring, Rancid, NOFX, Bad Religion and Pennywise.

One of the very first bands to sign with Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitzs then- fledgling Epitaph Records, NOFX formed in the early 80s as a three-piece.
After a not-so- productive start recording material for local indie Mystic Records, NOFX took the classic punk D.I.Y. route and self-released an EP “The PMRC Can Suck On This”, captured the attention of Gurewitz, who agreed to produce NOFXs first full- length.

The album also garnered critical praise for its sardonic wit and raw energy, which Kerrang praised as “being of the highest order”.
