This recording is entirely acoustic, and no effects (other than a bit of reverb) were used on any of the instruments.
In the case of this particular piece of music, I used the Ethervox (in its MIDI mode only) to play a ROLAND JV 2080 and provide a background for the deep and totally acoustic voice of the surbahar.

Rockmore's recording, "The Art of the Theremin" is one such recording Tanner holds in high regard.
"Theremin", of course, for the sound it made.
It quickly had the nickname, Paul's Box, but I'm sure the record people felt that name was a bit below their tastes, so the name, Electro-Theremin, was given at the time of the recording session by the producers.

My interest in the Theremin is stemmed from my love for the music of Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin who from the very beginning used this unique instrument to evoke sounds of magic and mystery that would carry the listener to new heights of aural enjoyment.
These photos which were taken from archival footage from the band around 1969, rebroadcast recently on VH1's "Flash Back" program, shows Mike Love using the Electro-Theremin during a live televised performance of Good Vibrations.

One recording artist who certainly did use the Solovox is Frankie Yankovic.
